Program Director

Dr. Carlos Ramirez is a board certified maxillofacial head & neck surgeon with specialized training in reconstructive surgery. He is among a handful of surgeons in Southeast Michigan trained to provide this advanced surgical option. Dr. Ramirez is on staff at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital and Ascension St. John Hospital.  Dr. Ramirez provides an additional spectrum of reconstruction for patients who may have been significantly disfigured by head and neck cancers. These surgical options may also be appropriate for patients with maxillofacial trauma or with soft/hard tissue defects or avulsions that require microvascular free or local pedicled flaps. 

Dr. Ramirez earned his Doctor of Medicine from Wayne State University and Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Detroit Mercy. He completed residency training in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery at St. John Providence Hospital.  Dr. Ramirez then went on to specialized fellowship training in Microvascular Reconstruction, Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Ramirez is a member of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Medical Association and American Dental Association. Dr. Ramirez has authored multiple peer reviewed publications, book chapters and lectures nationally and internationally on reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Paul Bermudez is a board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon fellowship trained in Pediatric Craniomaxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Bermudez earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Case Western Reserve University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from Case Western Reserve University. As full time faculty, Dr. Bermudez provides instruction and expertise in Pediatric Craniomaxillofacial Surgery. He also provides clinical instruction in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Resident Clinic. Dr. Bermudez holds staff privileges at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Ascension St. John Hospital, and Ascension St. John Children's Hospital. 

Jonattan Angulo DDS, is an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon with Ascension Medical Group. Dr. Angulo is board-eligible in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, he performs oral and maxillofacial surgery, microvascular reconstruction, orthognathic surgery and maxillofacial implants. Dr. Angulo earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Central University of Venezuela in Caracas, Venezuela. Then, he completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency in the Pontifical Javeriana University in Bogota, Colombia and then moved to Detroit, Michigan to complete a Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship. Dr. Angulo treats the entire head and neck region including benign and malignant tumors of the face, oral cavities, problems with the jaw, salivary glands and neck, and infections of the head and neck. Dr. Angulo provides care for maxillofacial trauma and temporomandibular joint disorders. Dr. Angulo has a special interest in head and neck oncology, maxillofacial reconstruction, maxillofacial implants, and jaw surgery. He strives to leave no question unanswered and to provide the best personalized care for his patients.

Dr. Arshi Lehal  is a board certified Oral and Maxillofacial  surgeon and a recent graduate of our Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency program.  Dr. Lehal earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the  University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and his Doctor of Medicine from Wayne State University School of Medicine.  
 
Dr. Lehal  works in private practice and is trained in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery.   As part time faculty, he is committed to the education and clinical training of the residents. He staffs the outpatient OMFS clinic at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospitals’ St. John Oral Surgery & Dental Clinic as well as covers facial trauma call at Ascension St. John Hospital and Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital.
 
Dr. Lehal holds staff privileges at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Ascension St. John Hospital and Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital.

Dr. Claude LeRose is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and a graduate of our Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency program. Dr. LeRose earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and his Doctor of Medicine from Wayne State University School of Medicine.

Dr. LeRose is trained in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery and works in private practice. As part time faculty, he is committed to the education, continued mentorship and clinical training of the residents.

Dr. LeRose holds staff privileges at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Ascension St. John Hospital and Beaumont Hospital.
