Ultrasound

Our ultrasound rotation is 2 weeks in duration and takes place during your intern year. Working directly with our Ultrasound Director Dr. Heller, you will easily achieve greater than the required 150 sonograms for ultrasound certification.

In addition to the significant hands-on training, the program maintains a subscription to EMSono for all residents. EMSono is an online ultrasound course to reinforce your practical skills. There are eleven required modules to be completed by the end of your first year.

At the end of the training, our residents routinely graduate with greater than 250 documented scans.

Trauma

Most Trauma Rotations are completed at DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital where our EM residents see the largest number of penetrating trauma in Southeast Michigan. Residents are also able  seek out educational learning opportunities at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD or another trauma facility of their choice.

PICU

Our PICU rotation takes place at DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan which sees 90,000 patients with 1600 ICU admissions per year.  This 38 bed PICU is the largest and one of only three sites in Michigan performing pediatric ECMO.

Michigan Statewide Campus System

(MSUCOM)- Enhances the quality of postdoctoral education through the collective efforts of their member institutions.  MSUCOM provides monthly multiple practical labs throughout the year including Cadaver lab for trauma, ultrasound, dental procedures, ballistics, slit lamp, and difficult airway.

Didactics

The program hold weekly didactics every Wednesday.
