Visiting Residents

Residents seeking to complete a rotation at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital (AMOH) must submit their request no less than 8-weeks prior to the start of the rotation. The Program Director provides final approval of all request.  Please download the rotation request form and return to Graduate Medical Education for processing.

National Resident Matching Program

For residency program consideration interested applicants should register in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).  The NRMP uses computers to match students and hospitals according to the students preferences.  For additional information about NRMP, contact:

Appointments

AMOH provides one year residency appointments, orientation begins the last week of June each year.  Annual renews are contingent upon residents satisfactory performance, upon successful completion of training requirements outlined by the specific American Board, Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital renew resident appointments.   

Those entering PGY1 in all programs are required to obtain AHA ACLS and BLS certification prior to assuming duties July 01 of the academic year. Ascension Macomb-Oakland offers ACLS certification free of charge, however you must obtain your BLS certification in order to take the ACLS course.

Flu Shots

Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital associates work in clinical and non-clinical positions and are required an annual flu vaccination.  This applies to all residents, fellows, students, volunteers, observers, housekeepers, clerical, lab, dietary staff and associates.  Associates may only decline vaccination if they provide supporting documentation of an acceptable medical or religious reason.

COVID

Effective November 13, 2021 Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospitals requires all associates, volunteers, visiting residents, and medical students obtain their COVID vaccination.  Associates may only decline vaccination if they provide supporting documentation of an acceptable medical or religious reason. 

Visa Policy

As of August 05, 2022, Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital accepts ECFMG sponsored J-1 Visas for residency/fellowship.
