Pulmonary & Critical Care Fellowship

Thank you for your interest in the Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship Training Program. The program director is Dr. Imad Obeid, who is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Sleep Medicine. 

The Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital Pulmonary & Critical Care Fellowship is accredited through the American College of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).  Trainees from our program become board certified in pulmonology and critical care medicine by the ABIM and are prepared go into autonomous practice.

The program’s goal is to train fellows to become outstanding clinicians in pulmonology and critical care. The program appoints two (2) fellows to the program each year.

How to Apply

The program only accepts applications though ERAS. Interviews will be virtual and conducted in September and October. The program participates in the Match with NRMP.

The Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship Program welcomes applications from individuals who are board-eligible in Internal Medicine from an American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) certified program at the time of matriculation. (Please note that we do not routinely accept applications from those who hold H1B visas.)


Submit Application via ERAS

Application submissions for the new academic year begin in July by using the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Well-qualified individuals will be invited for a virtual interview.


Required Documents for ERAS Application

  • At least three (3) letters of recommendation
  • A personal statement
  • Transcript from USMLE or COMLEX
  • ECFMG certification (if applicable)

Virtual Fellowship Interview Day

During the virtual interview day, applicants will meet with program leadership, have one-on-one interviews with faculty members, and interact with current fellows and fellow applicants using an interactive web-based platform. 

 

NRMP Medical Specialties Matching Program

The Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital Pulmonary & Critical Care Fellowship participates in the NRMP-sponsored match program. Interviewed applicants must register with the NRMP; registration begins in July. Following your interview, please follow NRMP instructions to submit your rank order list.
