Dr. Rachel Nixon is a board certified family medicine physician. She completed her medical degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and residency at Ascension Macomb Oakland Hospital. Dr. Nixon is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, and the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians. Dr. Nixon holds academic appointments as the Associate Program Director for Ascension Macomb-Oakland Family Medicine Residency Program, DMU Student Didactics Instructor, and MSUCOM Student Didactics Instructor as well as a Clinical Associate Professor for Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Nixon provides all patients with compassion and dedication, treating them as an extension of her family and believes in a holistic approach when treating patients and treats all aspects of the patient with each encounter. In addition to her love of patient care, Dr. Nixon is very passionate about resident and medical student education. Dr. Nixon is married and the proud mother of three great kids who keep her busy and on her toes!
Dr. Jennifer Hanna is a board-certified Family Medicine physician. Dr. Hanna completed her medical degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and residency at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital, where she also served as a Chief Resident. Dr. Hanna is board-certified in Family Medicine through the American Board of Family Physicians (ABFM) as well as in Obesity Medicine through the American Board of Obesity Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine through the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. Dr. Hanna holds an academic appointment with Michigan State University COM and Kansas City University COM. Dr. Hanna has special interest in the management of obesity. Dr. Hanna is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, and Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians.
Dr. Jason Soffa is a board certified Family Medicine physician. Dr. Soffa, completed his medical degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and residency at St. John Oakland Hospital. Dr. Soffa is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. Dr. Soffa holds an academic appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor at Michigan State University. Dr. Soffa focuses on prevention of disease and empowering patients to optimize their health. Dr. Soffia has a special interest in nutrition, along with prevention and treatment of diabetes.
Dr. Ryan Smith is a board-certified Family Medicine physician. Dr. Smith completed his medical degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and residency at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital, where he also served as a Chief Resident. Dr. Smith is board-certified in Family Medicine and OMT through the American Board of Family Physicians (ABFM) and American Board of Osteopathic Family Physicians (AOBFP). Dr. Smith seeks to educate the next generation of family physicians by promoting health & wellness encompassing a holistic approach to each patient. Dr. Smith focuses on disease management and aspects of the mind, body, and spirit that integrate into optimizing a patient’s health. It is Dr. Smith’s mission to allow each learner a suitable environment to learn, grow, and thrive. Dr. Smith holds a special interest in preventative medicine and population health. Dr. Smith holds an academic appointment with Michigan State University COM as a Clinical Assistant Professor and also serves as a Director on the MAOFP Board of Directors. Dr. Smith has received the AOF/ACOFP Outstanding Resident of the Year Award, MAOFP Resident of the Year Award, and the STFM Resident Teacher Award.
Dr. Jennifer Burlingame completed her medical degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and residency at St. John Macomb Oakland Hospital. Dr. Burlingame additionally has a Masters in Bioethics and Humanity from Michigan State University. Dr. Burlingame is Board Certified in Family Medicine and OMT through the ACOFP. Dr. Burlingame holds an academic appointment with Michigan State University COM as a Clinical Assistant Professor. Her passion for medicine stems from an interest in working with women and children as well as preventative health maintenance. Dr. Burlingame has come to love her position in academic medicine and enjoys serving as a mentor to learners in the Ascension Family Medicine program. Dr. Burlingame is a mother to 3 young children and in her free time enjoys many activities outside of medicine including (but not limited to!) cooking, water and snow skiing, gardening, yoga, and anything that connects her to her family and staying happy and healthy.
