Why Genesys?

The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Genesys had everything I was looking for in a program. The required rotations and learning experiences closely align with my clinical interests and my goal of pursuing a PGY2. The preceptors created a very welcoming environment during my interview, and made their dedication to the program evident. I am looking forward to my clinical rotations in both the ICUs and ED, as well as working closely with pharmacy students as a developing preceptor throughout the year.

Eric Podhorez, PharmD

Eric Podhorez is from Midland, MI. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Science from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI and then received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Ferris State University's College of Pharmacy. His professional interests include infectious diseases. During his free time, Eric likes to play pick-up basketball, attend college football games with his friends, and spend time with his family.

Why Genesys?

The residency program at Genesys consists of individuals who are enthusiastic about developing the next generation of pharmacists. The preceptors care about your professional development, as well as your personal wellbeing.  During my residency search, Q&A sessions with Ascension Genesys’ program displayed characteristics of recruitment, which made me feel like I was wanted here.

Alexandra Rueger, PharmD

Alexandra Rueger is from Millington, MI. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Ferris State University and continued with Ferris State University’s College of Pharmacy for her Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Her professional interests include infectious diseases, antimicrobial stewardship, and critical care. During her free time, Alex enjoys going camping with her family, playing board and card games, and exploring new restaurants.

Why Genesys?

I chose Genesys because it offers a versatile environment that provides a well-rounded residency training through many different rotation options. I was also drawn to Genesys by the welcoming pharmacy team. During my fourth year of pharmacy school, I completed several rotations at Genesys and was very impressed with the engagement and dedication of the preceptors. After those great experiences, I knew returning to Genesys after graduation would allow me to learn and grow even more as a pharmacist.
