Meet the Faculty

Reginald "Torey" Sandy, DO - Core Faculty

Dr. Torey Sandy was born in Southfield, MI but was raised in Vincennes, Indiana.  He graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in biomedical engineering and went to medical school at Lincoln Memorial University - DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, TN.  He trained here at Ascension Genesys Hospital for Internal Medicine.  Right after finishing his residency training, he worked as a locum tenens hospitalist and nocturnist before starting as Internal Medicine faculty.  He is a computer geek of sorts and enjoys any brain-teasers, board games, and computer/video games.  He also play tennis (and used to coach high school tennis) and pickleball in his spare time!

Natalia Baj-Osiewicz, MD – Core Faculty

Dr. Baj-Osiewicz was born and raised in Poland, but she proudly consider herself a Michigander, having called The Mitten State home since the late '90s. Her love for travel has taken her to many countries, a passion she was fortunate to pursue while serving in the United States Navy. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan and later returned to Poland to attend medical school. Her passion for patient care led her to choose a residency in internal medicine with the goal of becoming a primary care physician. After completing residency at Ascension Genesys Hospital,  Dr. Baj-Osiewicz joined the faculty team, where she find a great fulfillment in teaching future physicians. She is passionate about primary care and obesity medicine.

Living in Michigan is a joy, as it offers endless opportunities for outdoor adventures. She and her family relish the summers spent sailing, camping, and off-roading, and they embrace the winters with snowboarding and sledding. On those gloomy days, you'll often find her curled up with a good book, a cozy cat on my lap and a warm cup of tea in hand.

Garrett Beck, DO - Core Faculty

Dr. Beck was born and raised in Michigan. He completed his undergraduate education at Central Michigan University and medical school at Michigan State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed residency here at Ascension Genesys Hospital and decided to stay on as Core Faculty after graduation. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, his wife Kelsey, his daughter, Clara and their two mini goldendoodles, Piper & Rory. He also enjoys watching and playing sports including golf, football and softball.

Kelsee Rotondo, DO - Core Faculty

Dr. Rotondo is a dedicated member of the Ascension Genesys Internal Medicine team. She enjoys primary care both in the hospital and clinical setting, and her particular areas of interest include: treating complex medical comorbidities, women's health, point-of-care ultrasound and associated procedures, and academic medicine. Dr. Rotondo graduated from Michigan State University in 2016 with an undergraduate degree in biochemistry and continued to obtain her medical degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2020. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency training through Ascension Macomb-Oakland in Warren. She served as chief resident in her final year of training in 2023. Dr. Rotondo's passion of primary care was cemented through her medical education experiences and furthermore as she joined the Ascension Genesys Internal Medicine Core Faculty in 2023. 

In her free time, Dr. Rotondo enjoys keeping up with the most up to date journal of Internal Medicine, spending time with her family and son, gardening homegrown fruits and vegetables, and kayaking the various Michigan lakes and rivers.

Kyle Knight, DO - Core Faculty

Dr. Knight joined the Internal Medicine Faculty at Ascension Genesys in 2024. He is a proud Flint-area native who is passionate about providing medical care to the people of his home community. He obtained his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Michigan-Flint and subsequently obtained his medical degree from the University of Pikeville in Eastern Kentucky.
Dr. Knight has a special interest in preventative health, behavioral health and dermatology. When not caring for patients, Dr. Knight enjoys spending time with his family, playing guitar, cooking, golf and visiting local parks/wilderness trails.​

Heather Kirkpatrick, PhD - Director of Behavioral Health for IM

Dr. Kirkpatrick is a faculty member within the departments of Psychology and Internal Medicine at Genesys. Her time is spent between working with psychology fellows in our Clinical Health Psychology postdoctoral fellowship program and working with our Internal Medicine residents in their ambulatory office experience at the Downtown Flint Health Center. Dr. Kirkpatrick also teaches and coordinates the psychopharmacology course for both the Ascension Genesys fellowship, as well as the Michigan Consortium for Advanced Psychology Training fellowship. Dr. Kirkpatrick is a fully licensed psychologist in the State of Michigan, having earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at University of Illinois in 1998. She is board certified in Clinical Health Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.  In 2010, she completed a post-doctoral masters degree in Clinical Psychopharmacology at Farleigh Dickinson University. Dr. Kirkpatrick's professional and research interests involve integrated primary care, psychopharmacology, medical education techniques, bioethics, and physician wellness. She regularly speaks on these topics at conferences and enjoys collaborating with fellows in presentations and publications. She is active with the Ascension Genesys Ethics committee, having served as it’s chair for many years.  She enjoys reading YA fiction, baking, instrumental and vocal music, and traveling. She and her family are avid board gamers and have more board games than we could possibly play in a weekend.
