About Us
The PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency was established in 1988. Accredited by American Society of Health-System Pharmacists in 1992, this 12 month (52 week minimum), full time program provides opportunities in clinical pharmacy services and pharmacy operations. The residency tailors the experience to each individual resident’s goals.
Purpose Statement
The PGY-1 pharmacy residency programs build on the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to contribute to develop pharmacist practitioners with the knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives. Residents who successfully complete the PGY1 residency program will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education; and will be prepared to provide patient care, seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e. BCPS), and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies.
