PGY2 Residency Program Preceptors

Ronda Machen, PharmD, RD, BCPPS, BCNSP

Ronda Machen graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Washington and completed post-graduate residency training at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. She worked as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Pediatrics and Nutrition Support at Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin with Ascension Seton for 12 years before transitioning to the National Pharmacy team in 2019. During her tenure with Ascension, she has participated in numerous clinical and leadership teams, contributed to development of clinical pathways and initiatives, and developed new clinical pharmacy services. Currently Ronda leads the Therapeutic Affinity Group and oversees the Expert Review Panels, national formulary, drug utilization, clinical decision support and pharmacy education.

Ronda is a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and Pediatric Pharmacy Association. She is a Board Certified in Nutrition Support and Pediatric Pharmacy. She was recognized as the Residency Preceptor of the Year by the University of Texas College of Pharmacy in 2019.

Lindsay Adams, PharmD, BCPS

Lindsay Adams is the National Clinical Pharmacy Director serving the Ascension markets in Indiana, Kansas and Wisconsin as well as serving as a leader for clinical pharmacy initiatives across the organization. She has been with Ascension since 2018, starting as an Internal Medicine Specialist for Indiana. Lindsay earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her clinical practice background includes over 15 years of experience as a clinical specialist in internal medicine, pharmacy residency leadership roles and pharmacy service line development. Lindsay is the co-chair of several Expert Review Panels including Ambulatory Care, Internal Medicine, Behavioral Health, Parenteral Nutrition and Vaccines. Other leadership roles include contracting, clinical decision support and residency program coordination. Her favorite aspects of pharmacy residency includes resident mentorship with an emphasis on creating customized learning experiences tailored to the residents professional and personal goals. After all, connections, support and networking is KEY!

Neil Wood, PharmD

Neil Wood is Director of Clinical Pharmacy serving the Ascension markets in Florida and Tennessee. He has been with Ascension since 2017, starting as the Medication Safety and Quality Officer for Tennessee before moving into a national role supporting medication safety and clinical pharmacy leadership. Neil earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Samford University’s McWhorter School of Pharmacy in Birmingham Alabama and completed a pharmacy practice residency at Ascension St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville Tennessee. His clinical practice background includes over 10 years experience as a clinical specialist in cardiovascular and critical care areas and an additional 10 years in hospital and administrative clinical management. In his current role, Neil leads several Expert Review Panels including Cardiovascular, Surgery/Anesthesia, and Hematology/Oncology. Additionally, he supports clinical pharmacy dashboard development and outcomes in collaboration with the Ascension Data Sciences Institute.

Ben Cottongim, PharmD, BCCCP

Ben Cottongim is the National Clinical Pharmacy Director serving the Ascension markets in Maryland, and Oklahoma. He has been with Ascension since 2016. Prior to moving to the national pharmacy team, he started as a Critical Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in the Medical ICU at Ascension St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital and PGY2 Critical Care Residency Program Director. Ben earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Butler University and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Franciscan St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana as well as a PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. Currently, he is the coordinator for the Ascension Opioid and Pain Management Steering Committee and is the co-chair of several Expert Review Panels including Critical Care, Opioid and Pain Management, and Neurology. His other leadership roles include management of clinical decision support.
Cynthia McCune

Cynthia McCune, PharmD, MBA, BCCCP

Cynthia McCune is the National Clinical Pharmacy Director serving the Texas and Illinois markets. She earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy and Masters in Business Administration from Drake University. She completed two years of residency training at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC and Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville, KY. She has been with Ascension since 2019, beginning as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Pediatric Critical Care at Dell Children’s Medical Center where she started a PGY2 Critical Care Residency. Beginning in 2022, Cynthia served as Clinical Pharmacy Operations Manager for three years before transitioning to the national team in 2025. Currently, she is the coordinator for the Pediatric/Maternal, Emergency Medicine / Trauma, and Research Expert Review Panels. Her additional leadership roles include managing clinical dashboard content as well as the Ascension Formulary.
Terrine Brown

Terrine Brown, MS

Terrine serves as the National Program Manager for Pharmacy Education at Ascension. She works closely with subject matter experts across the organization to provide high-quality, evidence-based education programs that enhance pharmacy competency, clinical excellence, patient safety, and compliance.

She earned her Master’s degree in Communication from Portland State University and has a background in program accreditation, compliance management, and post-secondary education.

Reese Cosimi

Reese Cosimi, PharmD, BCIDP

Reese earned his PharmD from Butler University in Indianapolis and completed a PGY1 Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and a PGY2 Infectious Diseases Residency at the University Health System and VA in San Antonio. He currently serves as a Director of Quality for Ascension, leading antimicrobial stewardship and clinical standardization for the system. Previously he led antimicrobial stewardship for the Ascension St. Vincent Indiana Market where he played a pivotal role in COVID-19 pandemic management.

His work spans across the continuum of care settings, focused on identifying and reducing clinical variability across the markets. Reese has an extensive history of precepting first and second year residents on infectious diseases rotations. He is currently enrolled in an MBA program which he expects to complete in 2026. Reese also is an active member on the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists Board Recertification Committee. He is the primary preceptor for the Antimicrobial Stewardship / Quality rotation.

Florian Daragjati

Florian Daragjati, PharmD

Florian serves as the Senior Director of Quality, leading efforts to improve quality in the acute care setting. He focuses on national clinical priority goals, clinical standardization, CMS quality programs, and diagnostic stewardship. He collaborates with multiple stakeholders in areas of medication safety, clinical documentation and coding, palliative care, and analytics. Previously, he has worked as a clinical pharmacy manager and antimicrobial stewardship director at a local level and national level for Ascension.

Florian earned his bachelor's degree in biology from the  University of North Florida and PharmD from the University of Florida. He also serves as a career mentor for PharmD students with the University of Florida.

CHris Bell

Chris Bell, PharmD, MS

Chris earned his PharmD from the University of Kansas and completed a combined PGY1/2 HSPAL residency and M.S. in Hospital Pharmacy Administration at the University of Kansas Health System. He is currently Senior Director and Medication Safety Officer at Ascension, leading national efforts in medication safety, regulatory compliance, acute care operations, and supply chain resilience. Previously, he spent over 16 years at the University of Kansas Health System in leadership roles, including Director of Inpatient Pharmacy Operations and Senior Director of Pharmacy System Support and Biomedical Engineering.

Chris is passionate about patient safety, process improvement, medication delivery, and developing others. He has extensive experience precepting students and residents, earning Preceptor of the Year twice from the University of Kansas Health System’s PGY1/2 HSPAL program. He actively serves in the Kansas Council of Health System Pharmacy (KCHP) having served on multiple committees, named 2019 Volunteer of the Year, and currently President of the Board. He is also involved with ASHP through Section Advisory Groups and the House of Delegates. Chris is the residency program coordinator and preceptor for the Medication Safety, Diversion, and Regulatory rotation.

Mike Wascovich

Mike Wascovich, PharmD, MBA

Mike serves as Vice President, Medication Management and Chief Pharmacy Officer for Ascension in St. Louis, Missouri. Ascension is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit health system, with 139 hospitals and 60+ retail pharmacies located across 19 states. In this role, Mike leads all aspects of Ascension Pharmacy Services including business and operational strategy and oversight; medication safety and quality; maintaining internal and external collaborative partnerships; and continuous enhancements to the patient and clinician experience.

Mike received degrees from The Ohio State University (Baccalaureate, Pharmacy), Tiffin University (MBA), and the University of Florida (PharmD). He also graduated from Officer Training School, Maxwell Air Force Base, U.S. Air Force into the Biomedical Science Corps. He is an active member of American Society of Health System Pharmacy serving on the Pharmacy Executive Leadership Academy. He also has board appointments on End Drug Shortage Alliance (EDSA) and Dispensary of Hope.

Sarah Dodson

Sarah Dodson, PharmD, MBA

Sarah received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Pharmacy before completing a PGY-1 Community Pharmacy residency through the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy, and later received her MBA from Pittsburg State University. She currently serves as Senior Director of 340B and Medication Assistance Programs for Ascension. Sarah was previously 340B Program Director for Ascension ministries in Kansas and Oklahoma for 9 years, with prior experience as a clinical pharmacist in a rural community pharmacy with a focus on chronic disease state management.

She’s supported the opening of multiple charitable care pharmacies as well as designed, implemented and expanded several medication assistance and affordability programs. Sarah is an advocate for the 340B program and medication affordability, providing testimony to the Kansas Legislature on the importance of the 340B program, presented on Ascension’s programs at national conferences, participated in research and publications on 340B and medication affordability, and regularly collaborates with external advocacy organizations including 340B Health and state hospital associations. In 2023 Sarah received the Wichita Business Journal's Healthcare Hero recognitions in Administrative Excellence and Community Outreach, and in 2024 as a Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce Woman of Distinction.

Susan Downard

Susan Downard, BSPharm, RPh

Susan earned her BA in Political Science and Sociology and her BSPharm from The Ohio State University. She currently serves as the Senior Director, Clinical Drug Management and Pharmacy Benefits Programs for Ascension since January 2025. She spent the previous 30 years in the not-for-profit managed care pharmacy space at Kaiser Permanente and Tufts Health Plan/Point32Health where she served in many roles including director of pharmacy.

In her current role, Susan manages PBM relationships and supports the drug portion of SmartHealth employee benefit and our Dell Children's Hospital Medicaid Plan. Her focus is on mitigating drug trend and spend while ensuring we offer a socially just benefit for our associates. She also provides managed care pharmacy subject matter expertise to the organization. Susan is a frequent conference and webinar presenter for the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP). She is certified in personal training and nutrition and works as a water fitness instructor to help others meet their health and wellness goals. Susan lives in MA and is an avid sports fan. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and volunteering in her community. 

Molly Skifstad

Molly Skifstad, PharmD, MHSA

Molly Skifstad holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from North Dakota State University and a Master’s in Health System Administration from Georgetown University. With a background in both clinical and operational leadership, Molly has held various positions that have equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of multiple stakeholders' perspectives and motivations.

In her current role as the Associate Vice President of Infusion at Ascension, Molly oversees infusion services, strategy, and development to meet service expectations and drive future growth. Her professional accomplishments include leading a statewide coalition that successfully passed state legislation for White Bagging, transitioning infusion practices to a proactive state, and implementing standards and processes for waste management, biosimilars, and hazardous medications. Molly is passionate about increasing access and choice for infusion patients. She is particularly enthusiastic about best practices, advocacy, rural healthcare, and site of care. In her free time, Molly enjoys gardening, caring for her animals, and hunting in the woods, preferably with her husband Mike and their children, Lucy and Henry.

Mary Beth Rottman

Mary Beth Rottman, PharmD, BCACP, CSP

Mary Beth Rottman serves as the manager for the embedded specialty pharmacist team. Her team of highly trained pharmacists provides the clinical support for specialty medications prescribed by clinics across Ascension. The team members integrate seamlessly into their clinic’s workflow, ensuring timely medication access, patient education, and ongoing therapeutic monitoring. Their presence enhances care coordination and contributes to improved patient outcomes for Ascension patients who need specialty medications.

She obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Purdue University in Lafayette, IN. Afterwards, she completed her PGY-1 residency and PGY-2 Ambulatory Care residency at Indiana University Health in Indianapolis, IN. She has served in numerous ambulatory care and clinical specialty pharmacist roles since completing her residency and before joining Ascension in 2021. Mary Beth is a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist and Certified Specialty Pharmacist.

Ashley Van Allen

Ashley Van Allen, PharmD

Ashley graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Arizona and completed post-graduate residency training at University of Washington and HealthPoint in Seattle, WA. After graduation, she worked as a Clinical Pharmacist at HealthPoint, a federally qualified health center. Ashley then transitioned to a leadership role at MultiCare Health System in Tacoma, WA where she served as the Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacy Manager overseeing pharmacists in primary care and specialty clinics, pharmacists in population health and the Diabetes and Nutrition Services team.

In 2021, Ashley moved to Ascension to support ambulatory care practice. In her current role she serves as the Director for Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Services overseeing pharmacists in population health, specialty pharmacy and ambulatory care services. Ashley is a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, American Pharmacists Association and Washington State Pharmacy Association. Ashley is a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist. She was recognized as the Washington State Pharmacist of the Year in 2020.

April Stefanell

April Stefanell

April received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of Florida College of Pharmacy. She currently serves as Senior Director for Pharmaceutical Support Services at The Resource Group supporting pharmaceutical supply chain logistics. This role supports supply chain functions including distribution management, centralized pharmacy inventory management, shortage mitigation and onboarding new Participants to The Resource Group solution. Previous roles include Director, Pharmaceutical Deployment at The Resource Group, Medication Safety Area Manager for Ascension Rx, Medication Safety Coordinator at Ascension St. Vincent's Southside-Jacksonville and positions in clinical research and community pharmacy prior to Ascension. She currently is certified as 340B ACE, holds a Florida Consultant Pharmacist license and a member of American Society of Health System Pharmacy.
 
Matt Diamond

Matt Diamond

Matt is currently the Vice President of Pharmacy Finance at Ascension. As the VP of Pharmacy Finance, Matt collaborates with leaders across Ascension while focusing on pharmacy related financials.  He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Marketing from Baldwin Wallace University and a Master’s in Business Administration from John Carroll University. Prior to joining Ascension, Matt served as the Pharmacy Finance Director at the Cleveland Clinic.
