Ascension Wisconsin Internal Medicine Residency Program

We are thrilled to welcome you to our Internal Medicine Residency Program! Our program is built upon a foundation of excellence, compassion, and a commitment to preparing the next generation of leaders in Internal Medicine. Combining the strengths of community-based care and academic rigor, we are excited to embark on this journey together!

Our program emphasizes scholarly inquiry, encouraging curiosity, and a commitment to lifelong learning. We aim to equip you with the tools to not only provide excellent patient care and develop into well rounded physicians, but to also contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge and improve healthcare delivery.

Our program aims to provide comprehensive inpatient clinical training at two distinct sites in Milwaukee, WI: Columbia St. Mary's (CSM) is a tertiary care center with cutting edge facilities that serves a broad patient population across urban Milwaukee and surrounding areas and St. Joseph Hospital is dedicated to serving a medically underserved community. We want our residents to gain diverse clinical experiences and understand the unique healthcare needs of underserved populations.

Our Internal Medicine Continuity Clinic located at North Avenue will provide consistent, high-quality care to the community and allow our residents to build long-term patient relationships, improving health outcomes for marginalized groups. Furthermore, our residents will gain additional months of experience across clinics in the Fox Valley area of Wisconsin, where they will be exposed to geriatric care, palliative care, a dementia clinic and primary care. This is to ensure that we train residents well-equipped to practice Primary Care across a diverse range of settings, and across a span of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.

Known as the "Brew City," it boasts a rich brewing history, with countless craft breweries, beer gardens, and festivals to explore. From the stunning shores of Lake Michigan to the bustling Milwaukee Public Market, there’s no shortage of activities for every taste. Sports fans can cheer on the Milwaukee Bucks or Brewers, while art enthusiasts will love the Milwaukee Art Museum, with its iconic "wings."
