Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency
through graduation and beyond, you will have the support you need to succeed.
Welcome to the Ascension Wisconsin OB/GYN Residency Program
Our unique, multi-site residency training program offers a comprehensive clinical and surgical experience designed to develop well-rounded, highly skilled specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Anchored by Ascension SE Wisconsin-St. Joseph’s Hospital and Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital, the program embraces the academic excellence and family-centered care that define community-based hospitals. Our diverse patient population—including underserved women and those with complex, high-risk pregnancies—provides residents with rich, hands-on opportunities to build exceptional clinical competence. Training occurs in a supportive, collaborative environment where residents are empowered to reach their fullest potential as compassionate, capable physicians.
The Obstetrics and Gynecology core curriculum is based on the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) Educational Objectives. Our structured, progressive curriculum is organized into rotations that build upon each other year by year, with increasing levels of responsibility and autonomy. Residents benefit from protected educational time every Wednesday afternoon, dedicated to structured learning and professional development.
Academic enrichment includes weekly Grand Rounds, a comprehensive core didactic lecture series, morning reports, journal clubs, and a variety of subspecialty conferences. Extensive simulation training is incorporated throughout the program to enhance procedural and clinical decision-making skills in a safe, supportive environment.
Each resident also completes a longitudinal research or quality improvement project of their choosing, fostering academic curiosity and scholarly contribution.
We take pride in the close-knit nature of our program, which supports the development of lasting friendships and strong professional networks. Many of our graduates choose to stay in the community, playing a vital role in shaping the next generation of women’s healthcare providers.
