Transitional Year Program

The Ascension Wisconsin Transitional Year Residency Program provides a broad-based clinical experience designed to prepare physicians for advanced specialty training. Our curriculum balances inpatient medicine, outpatient care, emergency medicine, and individualized elective experiences to build a strong clinical foundation while supporting each resident's professional goals. 

Whether you are pursuing anesthesiology, dermatology, radiology, radiation oncology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, or another specialty requiring a preliminary year, our program provides the training, mentorship, and flexibility to help you succeed.

• Diverse Training Sites: Residents gain experience across two unique clinical environments: Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital, a tertiary care center with exposure to complex medical conditions, and St. Joseph Hospital, a community hospital serving a diverse patient population in Milwaukee.
