Ascension NE Wisconsin Hospital –
St. Elizabeth Campus PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program

Ascension NE Wisconsin Hospital – St. Elizabeth Campus PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program

The PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program at Ascension St. Elizabeth Hospital is a 54 week program that is carefully designed following the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ Accreditation Standards to ensure that a resident develops into a well-rounded, clinical practitioner through exposure to a large variety of practice areas. Upon completion of this PGY-1 program, the resident will be a competent clinical pharmacist with the knowledge and abilities to pursue a general clinical pharmacist position, board certification, and/or a postgraduate year two (PGY-2) pharmacy residency position.

The pharmacy department at Ascension St. Elizabeth Hospital provides 24-hour services to all patient care areas. Pharmacists work in a decentralized model on various units including the intensive care unit, cardiology, oncology, neonatal intensive care unit, orthopedics, neurology, psychiatry, and medical/surgical unit. Pharmacists participate in multidisciplinary rounds and readmission reduction efforts, provide clinical dosing and monitoring services, and precept introductory and advanced pharmacy practice students. Our pharmacists provide high quality patient care with assistance from pharmacy technicians and various forms of technology (automated medication cabinets, barcode scanning, TPN compounding software).

Living in Appleton, Wisconsin

Listed as one of the best places in America to live by Money Magazine's 2010 review, Appleton is a great place to live, work, play and raise a family. On the northwest shore of Lake Winnebago, Appleton is the largest city in an urban area known as the Fox Cities. The Fox Cities area includes nineteen communities along the Fox River and Lake Winnebago that boomed in the early 20th century producing paper products. Today the Fox Cities are known as Wisconsin’s Shopping Place. A large regional mall and many galleries, antique and specialty shops offer plenty of shopping options. Appleton is the cultural heart of the Fox Cities and is home to a spectacular performing arts center. Discover museums focusing on favorite son Harry Houdini, the paper industry, and one of the largest children’s museums in the Midwest. The elegant Hearthstone Historic House offers a tour of the past. The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, a Class A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, and Kaukauna’s Wisconsin International Raceway provide plenty of sports entertainment.
