The Via Christi International Family Medicine Fellowship is a 1-year post-residency training program including both didactic and clinical skills rotations in Wichita combined with an overseas clinical experience at one of several partnering mission hospitals in the developing world.

Training Blocks

Tropical medicine, public health, and travelers’ health through West Virginia University. This is a diploma-level course which qualifies fellows to sit for the certification exam with the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. Two weeks of class and lab time are completed in beautiful Morgantown, WV. The remaining 6 weeks of material are completed throughout the remainder of the stateside semester.
Wichita based rotations available:
- Trauma
- Burn ICU
- Spinal Anesthesia
- Point of Care Ultrasound
- HIV Clinic
- Orthopedics
- Dentistry
- NICU
Locum tenens coverage in rural Kansas hospital emergency rooms, including opportunities for additional moonlighting.
Five months at one of several partnering hospitals overseas:
- Galmi Hospital in Niger
- Hospital Loma De Luz in Honduras
- Karanda Hospital in Zimbabwe
- Kibogora Hospital in Rwanda
- Memorial Christian Hospital in Bangladesh
- Mukinge Hospital in Zambia

Applications are received August 1 through December 15. The International Fellowship Year begins on July 1 of the following year.
