Program Structure

The first course for the NDT program begins the first full week of January.  Completion of the program occurs 12 months later in December.  The program consists of three (3) 16-week trimesters.  During each trimester, students will complete academic and clinical courses taught during that semester.  The length of courses will vary based on the curriculum.  Students will complete one course at a time; the courses build on each other so they must enroll in all courses taught during the trimester. Skills Lab or clinical hours will run concurrently with the classroom lectures.

2025 Academic Calendar

Weekly Schedule

Students are on-site for clinicals or classes 3 days a week during the 12-month program.  During the first trimester, students will have classroom lectures and spend time in the Skills Lab on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The following two trimesters, students will attend class on Wednesdays with two clinical days on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays, dependent on the hospital neurodiagnostic clinical department preceptor schedule.  During the third trimester, students may do a 4-week rotation on weekends or nights dependent on preceptor availability.

Class and Skills Lab hours are typically from 8:30am - 3:30pm with breaks and lunch (the exact schedule may vary depending on the course).  Clinical hours are typically 8am - 4:30pm (may vary based on department need).

Breaks are scheduled between trimesters.  Additionally, students have personal time off (PTO) to be used for personal reasons.  The Ascension St Vincent Neurodiagnostic Technology Program honors the following hospital-recognized holidays.  Students are not assigned to clinicals or classes on these holidays.
