Admissions Process

 

To be considered for acceptance, the applicant must meet the following requirements:

 

  1. Be 18 years of age or older by the start of the program. 
  2. Be eligible to work in the United States as required by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents)
  3. Submit a fully completed and signed (electronically or by hand) application for admission.
  4. Along with the application for admission, submit the $40 application fee in the form of a money order or bank check.
  5. Attend an in-person pre-admission conference. (Details can be found on the NDT Program Home page or Pre-Admission Conference tab.)
  6. Submit official academic transcripts from high school/GED and any post-secondary institutions attended.
  7. Complete a job shadow in the  Neurodiagnostic department at Ascension St Vincent Indianapolis  for a minimum of four (4) hours.   This needs to be completed before the application deadline but less than one year prior to the start of the program.   Observation hours must be documented on the Verification of Job Shadow Observation form and verified by the supervising technologist at the end of the observation. All the information needed to set up the Job Shadow can be found on the Clinical Observations tab.  Applicants are encouraged to start this process early in the application window, as it will not be able to be completed at the last minute.
  8. Submit a signed and dated narrative essay with a statement attesting that AI (such as Chat GPT) was not used in the creation of the narrative with the exception of spell check, along with your completed application.  The narrative should include the following: 

1) Explain why you want to be a neurodiagnostic technologist,

2) Based on your job shadow observation experience, explain what a neurodiagnostic tech does in a typical day and explain what interested you most,

3) Describe what you believe are essential traits of a neurodiagnostic technologist, and

4) List your long-term career goals.
