Graduation Requirements
To be eligible for graduation from the Radiography Program, each student must successfully complete all program requirements, both academic and clinical, as outlined below:
Academic and Clinical Standards
- Maintain a minimum academic average of 80% and a minimum clinical average of 85%
- Pass the comprehensive final examination with a score of 80% or higher (administered at the end of the program)
- Complete all clinical competencies and assignments, including terminal clinical competencies (practical examinations)
- Not exceed the maximum allowable sick days, as defined in program policy
- Completely satisfy all tuition and financial obligations to the program
Technical and Clinical Competencies
Graduates must demonstrate the ability to:
- Use oral and written medical communication effectively
- Demonstrate adequate knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology
- Anticipate and provide basic patient care and comfort
- Apply correct body mechanics in the clinical setting
- Perform basic mathematical functions accurately
- Operate radiographic imaging equipment and accessory devices properly
- Correctly position the patient and imaging system for radiographic procedures
- Modify standard procedures to accommodate patient conditions and variables
- Operate CR/DR/PACS systems appropriately and consistently practice HIPAA compliance
- Determine and adjust exposure factors to obtain diagnostic-quality images while minimizing radiation exposure
- Practice ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) to ensure radiation protection for patients, self, and others
- Recognize emergency patient conditions and initiate appropriate first aid and basic life support
- Evaluate radiographic images for positioning, technique, and diagnostic quality
- Assess the performance of radiographic systems, recognize equipment malfunctions, and report issues as required
- Demonstrate knowledge of quality assurance protocols and safety limits of equipment operation
- Exercise independent judgment and discretion in performing radiographic procedures
- Understand the principles of X-ray production and interactions
- Support and consistently practice the ARRT Code of Ethics
Regulatory and Professional Standards
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations
- Meet all standards established by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), including:
