Program Goals & Objectives

Ascension St. Vincent's Radiography Program strives to produce highly skilled and trained entry-level radiographers to serve the medical community and radiography field. Upon graduation from the Ascension St. Vincent's Radiologic Technology Program, the student will be able to perform the following Goals and Objectives.

Goal 1: Communicate Effectively in the Healthcare Environment

Learning Objectives:

  • Demonstrate professional oral and written communication.

  • Collaborate effectively with members of the healthcare team.

  • Apply appropriate communication techniques with patients from diverse backgrounds.

  • Resolve conflicts professionally and respectfully.


Goal 2: Demonstrate Clinical Competency and Deliver Safe, High-Quality Patient Care

Learning Objectives:

  • Perform accurate radiographic positioning and procedural techniques.

  • Apply proper radiation safety measures for patients, self, and staff.

  • Maintain a clinical competency average of 85% or higher.

  • Provide age-appropriate, compassionate patient care.

  • Adhere to legal and ethical standards, including HIPAA compliance.


Goal 3: Apply Critical Thinking and Sound Clinical Judgment

Learning Objectives:

  • Assess patients, requisitions, and image quality to determine appropriate actions.

  • Exercise independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations.

  • Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency conditions.

  • Evaluate technical factors and make necessary adjustments for image quality and patient safety.


Goal 4: Demonstrate Professionalism, Ethics, and Commitment to Lifelong Learning

  • Exhibit professionalism and ethical conduct in clinical and academic settings.
