To prepare competent entry-level sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains for the following concentrations.
- Abdomen - Extended Sonography
- Breast Sonography
- Obstetrics and Gynecology Sonography
- Vascular Sonography
Upon graduation from the Ascension St. Vincent’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program, the student will be able to perform the following objectives
Cognitive Domain
- Obtain appropriate clinical history, apply the information, use critical thinking to the sonographic examination and effectively communicate using correct medical and sonographic terminology in the interprofessional healthcare setting.
- Possess a general medical knowledge base and use sound judgment to perform effectively in a healthcare setting.
Psychomotor Domain
- Demonstrates the ability to perform quality diagnostic examinations and accurately communicate (oral or written) sonographic findings in a timely manner
- Appropriately optimize images, modifies the protocol of an examination based on circumstances, patient cooperation, conditional limitations or sonographic findings.
Affective Domain
- Able to respond to the needs of the patient.
- Functions effectively as a member of the health care organization, conducts themselves in an ethical and professional manner, and accepts constructive feedback and responds appropriately.
