Course Completion and National Registry Examinations
To successfully complete the program, students must maintain an 80 percent average throughout all phases of academic instruction and an 85 percent average throughout all phases of clinical education. Students must exhibit appropriate professional conduct and show a satisfactory aptitude for the care of the sick.
Students will be eligible to apply for and take their specialty examination(s) up to 60 days prior to graduation. Specialty Examinations are offered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers ARDMS in the areas of Abdomen, Breast, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Sonography Principles and Instrumentation and Vascular Technology. The ARDMS examinations are a pass/fail examination and those who pass will receive certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) and/or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT). This credential is the standard of excellence and acceptance for the profession and is required for most employment opportunities.
