Application Process

In the selection of students, the program does not discriminate on the basis of to race, ethnicity, color, national origin, marital status, religion, age, gender, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, disability, or veteran status. Students must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for admission. Classes are generally limited to eight (8) students. The committee also selects 2 alternates.

Applicants must be certified as a registered Radiologic Technologist or have a minimum of an Associate’s Degree with the successful completion of the following prerequisite college level courses with an overall 3.0 GPA requirement:
Introduction to Physics or Physics for Liberal Arts
Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II
College Algebra
Medical Terminology
Communication Skills (ENC 1101, Speech, English Composition, or Communications) 

The prospective student must submit the following no later than March 1st to be considered for the courses that begin in June:

3 professional references using designated form
all college transcripts
resume or personal statement letter
non-refundable $25 application fee
Copy of current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through The American Heart Association

 

How To Submit Transcripts: There are three ways one could submit Official Transcripts to the school

  • Mail official transcripts to the address listed below, any mailed transcript must be submitted in a sealed envelope, sealed by the institution. Opened envelopes will not be accepted.
  • You may Hand-deliver your transcripts to the program, following the directions below under the payment section. Hand-delivered transcripts must be in a sealed envelope, sealed by the institution. Opened envelopes will not be accepted
  • Request digital copies of transcripts from sites such as Parchment.com in the recipient section of the digital request, please put Chemene Wilson in the name section and Chemene.Wilson@ascension.org

How to submit Application Fees and Acceptance Fees

  • Please submit only checks or Money Orders payable to Ascension St. Vincent's and put Sonography Program in the memo line.
  • WE DO NOT ACCEPT CASH PAYMENTS
  • You may hand-deliver your payments to the Sonography program. Please bring it to Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside to the Department of Medical Imaging located in the Hospital. Make sure the payment is in a sealed envelope with your name, phone number, and Attn: Chemene Wilson, Sonography Program on the front of the envelope. You may mail your payment to the Sonography program, it is recommended that you obtain a U.S. Mail "Return Receipt Request". You may also email the program at Chemene.Wilson@ascension.org to confirm receipt of payment. Please mail checks or money orders to the address listed below

Foreign Educated Applicants

Applicants educated in foreign countries are welcomed to apply to the program. However, candidates must have completed all of the programs general education requirements through regionally accredited American colleges and universities. No foreign academic work will be considered toward the general education requirements. Foreign transcripts or the equivalent domestic evaluation of foreign transcripts (ECE for example) are not required.
