Fellows will train at four diverse hospital locations that each provide their own unique experiences
Ascension St. Vincent Indianapolis: Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana, is a full-service hospital with 24/7 emergency care and level I trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, brain tumor center of excellence, transplant center, and burn center.
MICU: The medical ICU is a cornerstone of pulmonary and critical care training. Our MICU has 31 beds staffed by 2 teaching teams consisting of an attending, a senior resident, 1-2 interns and a medical student. MICU patients are medically complex, requiring a multidisciplinary approach to care.
CVTU: The Cardiovascular and Transplant Unit is a large primarily post-operative, post-procedural and transplant unit dedicated to highest acuity Cardiology patients in the state of Indiana. This unit receives heart transplant patients, LVAD’s and ECMO. We function primarily in a consultative role. Pulmonary Hypertension and Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologists offer a unique training experience for fellows.
TNICU: The Trauma and Neurological Intensive Care Unit is the receiving ICU for the Level 1 Trauma Program at Ascension St. Vincent. Also as Stroke and Brain Tumor Centers of Excellence, the unit houses post-acute stroke patients that have received systemic thrombolysis and/or endovascular intervention as well as those post-craniotomy.
Pulmonary Consults: This is the consultative service for the hospital teams seeing patients for asthma, COPD, effusions, pulmonary infections and ILD among many other things. The consult fellow will perform multiple bronchoscopic procedures and read pulmonary function tests.
Continuity Clinic: Fellows will have weekly half-day continuity clinics in the Ascension Medical Group Pulmonary offices attached to the hospital.

Ascension St. Vincent Carmel: Ascension St. Vincent Carmel in Carmel, Indiana, is a full-service hospital with 24/7 emergency care. The Carmel ICU has 10 beds offering a smaller community feel. Carmel is a bariatric center so in addition to general ICU patients, the fellows garner experience in post-operative ICU management of the bariatric patient. The fellows will work with an attending to manage the ICU, pulmonary consults and read PFT’s.

Ascension St. Vincent Heart Center: Ascension St. Vincent Heart Center is a center of excellence that provides advanced, specialized treatment of cardiovascular diseases. They specialize in interventional cardiology, cardiac catheterization, cardiac surgery, vascular medicine, and other state-of-the-art cardiovascular interventions. Fellows will work with an attending providing pulmonary consultation on both floor and ICU patients.

Ascension St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital: Ascension St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital is an LTACH that specializes in the care of medically complex patients post-hospitalization. Fellows will work with an attending to provide pulmonary and critical care consultative services of patients with prolonged illness, respiratory failure, post-traumatic complications, etc.
