Program Description and Purpose Statement

The PGY2 Critical Care Residency at Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, Texas is designed to provide the resident with a concentrated 12-month experience focused on critical care medicine. At the completion of this residency, the resident will be prepared to fulfill the role of a clinical pharmacy specialist in a critical care unit. Based in a pediatric facility, this PGY2 residency offers the unique opportunity to further specialize in pediatric critical care while still establishing critical care skills that are necessary to care for critically ill patients of any age.

The primary site of the residency program is Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas, a freestanding academic pediatric hospital with a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Level I trauma center. The PGY2 resident also has the opportunity to complete rotations at our adult centers offering critical care experiences.

The PGY2 Critical Care Residency at Dell Children’s Medical Center is in ASHP Candidate Status.
