Program Description and Purpose Statement

Ascension Seton is offering an ASHP accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency program. The PGY1 Pharmacy residency is a 12 month program designed to expose residents to a rich clinical environment where they experience concentrated and diverse training in a variety of pharmacy practice areas.

At the completion of the program, the resident will be prepared to function, with confidence, as a general clinical practitioner in an acute care pediatric setting. As an ASHP accredited PGY1 program, the graduate will also be prepared to pursue a PGY2 residency program.

The primary site of the residency program is Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas, a freestanding academic pediatric hospital with a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Level I Trauma Center. Residents also have the opportunity to complete rotations at our adult academic teaching hospital (Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas) and four of our community hospitals.
