Justin Guthman

Specialty and Infusion
Justin Guthman, PharmD, received his PharmD from the University of Minnesota (Duluth) College of Pharmacy. Following pharmacy school, he completed an ASHP accredited PGY1 Community Pharmacy Residency and a PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration Residency from Froedtert Hospital (Milwaukee, WI).

Justin is currently the Senior Director of Specialty and Infusion Pharmacy for AscensionRx. In this role, he supports 139 acute care hospitals, 63 retail pharmacies, 2 Specialty Pharmacies, 97 Infusion sites of care and countless other services designed to improve quality, safety, and total cost of pharmacy services.

Justin is a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin. His areas of interest include medication safety, transitions of care, and advancement of hospital pharmacy practice through leadership, staff development, and pharmacy resident education.

Justin is the residency program director and preceptor for the required Human Resources and Recruitment Rotation and the Specialty/Infusion Rotation.

Ronda Machen

Clinical Pharmacy Leadership - Acute
Ronda Machen graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Washington and completed post-graduate residency training at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. She worked as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Pediatrics and Nutrition Support at Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin with Ascension Seton for 12 years before transitioning to the National Pharmacy Education team in 2019. In her tenure with Ascension, she has participated in numerous decision teams, created clinical pathways, and developed clinical pharmacy services. In her previous role as the Area Pharmacy Education Manager for Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma, she developed TAG Implementation Toolkits, the National Pharmacy Policy and Procedure Advisory Committee, coordinated COVID-19 Pearls for Pharmacy, initiated Clinical Pearls, led the Virtual Residency Conference, and revitalized the Ascension Pharmacy Residency Optimization Committee and Residency Committee. Currently Ronda leads the Therapeutic Affinity Group and oversees the Expert Review Panels, national formulary, drug utilization, and clinical decision support.

Ronda is a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and Pediatric Pharmacy Association. Her interests include Pediatrics, Nutrition Support, Pulmonology, Infectious Disease, and Education. Ronda is a Board Certified Nutrition Support Pharmacist and Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist. She was recognized as the Residency Preceptor of the Year by the University of Texas College of Pharmacy in 2019.

Mike Wascovich

Executive Pharmacy Leadership
Mike serves as Vice President, Medication Management and Chief Pharmacy Officer for Ascension in St. Louis, Missouri. Ascension is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit health system, with 139 hospitals and 60+ retail pharmacies located across 19 states. In this role, Mike leads all aspects of Ascension Pharmacy Services including business and operational strategy and oversight; medication safety and quality; maintaining internal and external collaborative partnerships; and continuous enhancements to the patient and clinician experience.

Mike received degrees from The Ohio State University (Baccalaureate, Pharmacy), Tiffin University (MBA), and the University of Florida (PharmD). He also graduated from Officer Training School, Maxwell Air Force Base, U.S. Air Force into the Biomedical Science Corps. He is an active member of American Society of Health System Pharmacy serving on the Pharmacy Executive Leadership Academy. He also has board appointments on End Drug Shortage Alliance (EDSA) and Dispensary of Hope.

Paul Mollo

340B Administration and Patient Medications Outcomes Disparity
Paul Mollo is the National Director for Medication Outcomes Disparity for Ascension. He oversees the 340B program and the Patient Medication Assistance Program at the National level, is the liaison to the ministry of the Dispensary of Hope and spends most of his time working on programs to help make medications more affordable for patients. Previously, Paul spent 16 years as the Director of Pharmacy for Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital in Binghamton, NY where he helped create and lead many programs to sustain the poor and vulnerable in that community. He holds a BS in Pharmacy from the University of Buffalo, and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida. Paul has been a speaker for the Island Peer Review Organization (IPRO) as well as for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). He has co-authorized a chapter for The Joint Commission on The Nurse’s Role in Medication Reconciliation as well as co-authored an article for The Joint Commission on Eliminating Adverse Drug Events. Paul is a member of the 340B Health Board of Directors and is also a co-chair of the 340B Health Pharmacy Services Committee. Paul is a member of 340B Health, ASHP, and a member of the Dean’s Council at the Binghamton University School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Sunil Patel

PBM and Insurance 
Sunil is a seasoned and accomplished Senior Director of Clinical Drug Management and Pharmacy Benefits Programs, renowned for his extensive expertise in pharmaceutical sciences and healthcare administration. With a distinguished career spanning over two decades, he has made significant contributions to the advancement of clinical drug management and optimizing pharmacy benefits programs for leading healthcare organizations. Driven by a passion for transformative healthcare solutions, Sunil transitioned to a role as a Pharmacy Benefits Program Director for Ascension. In this capacity, he designed and executed initiatives to enhance the utilization of prescription drug benefits while mitigating costs for both the organization and its members. In this critical role, Sunil is responsible for overseeing all aspects of formulary management, prior authorization, drug utilization review, and medication therapy management programs. He collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including medical directors, data analysts, and regulatory experts, to ensure that the organization delivers the highest quality of care while optimizing the pharmacy benefits for patients and members. Mr. Patel received a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Washington and has a proven track record of growth and improved profitability in areas of outpatient pharmacy.

Ashley Van Allen

Clinical Pharmacy Leadership - Ambulatory
Ashley Van Allen graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Arizona and completed post-graduate residency training at University of Washington and HealthPoint in Seattle, WA. After graduation, she worked as a Clinical Pharmacist at HealthPoint, a federally qualified health center. Ashley then transitioned to a leadership role at MultiCare Health System in Tacoma, WA where she served as the Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacy Manager overseeing pharmacists in primary care and specialty clinics, pharmacists in population health and the Diabetes and Nutrition Services team. In 2021, Ashley moved to Ascension to support ambulatory care practice. In her current role she serves as the Director for Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Services overseeing pharmacists in population health, specialty pharmacy and ambulatory care services. Ashley is a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, American Pharmacists Association and Washington State Pharmacy Association. Ashley is a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist. She was recognized as the Washington State Pharmacist of the Year in 2020.

Mark Hayes

Advocacy
Mark Hayes is a lawyer and pharmacist with more than 30 years of federal and private sector health law and policy experience through which he has played a leading role in the development and enactment of health care policy and legislation in Washington. He served on the staff for four U.S. Senators (Grassley, Bond, Snowe and Jeffords), and served for more than seven years as Health Policy Director and Chief Health Counsel for the Senate Finance Committee Republican staff for Chairman/Ranking Member Grassley. He has also represented numerous clients at the federal level including hospital systems, managed care plans, health care corporations, pharmacies, health care trade associations, and coalitions. Through this experience, he was a leader in the policy development, legislative drafting and negotiations on the health care provisions of several major pieces of federal legislation including the Affordable Care Act, the Medicare Advantage and Part D prescription drug benefit provisions of the Medicare Modernization Act, the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act, the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act, the Deficit Reduction Act, and the Administrative Simplification provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. Mark is currently the Senior Vice President of Policy and Advocacy at Ascension. 

April Stefanell

Group Purchasing Organization Administration 
April Stefanell received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of Florida College of Pharmacy. She currently serves as Senior Director for Pharmaceutical Support Services at The Resource Group supporting pharmaceutical supply chain logistics. This role supports supply chain functions including distribution management, centralized pharmacy inventory management, shortage mitigation and onboarding new Participants to The Resource Group solution. Previous roles include Director, Pharmaceutical Deployment at The Resource Group, Medication Safety Area Manager for Ascension Rx, Medication Safety Coordinator at Ascension St. Vincent's Southside-Jacksonville and positions in clinical research and community pharmacy prior to Ascension. She currently is certified as 340B ACE, holds a Florida Consultant Pharmacist license and a member of American Society of Health System Pharmacy.

Matthew Diamond

Pharmacy Finance
Matt Diamond is currently the Vice President of Pharmacy Finance at Ascension. As the VP of Pharmacy Finance, Matt collaborates with leaders across Ascension while focusing on pharmacy related financials.  He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Marketing from Baldwin Wallace University and a Master’s in Business Administration from John Carroll University. Prior to joining Ascension, Matt served as the Pharmacy Finance Director at the Cleveland Clinic.
