Ascension St. Vincent’s Mission Statement:

Rooted in the loving ministry of Jesus as healer, we commit ourselves to serving all persons with special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable.  Our Catholic health ministry is dedicated to spiritually centered, holistic care, which sustains and improves the health of individuals and communities.  We are advocates for a compassionate and just society through our actions and our words. 


Cardiovascular Technology Program’s Mission Statement

Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside Cardiovascular Technology Program is dedicated to providing meaningful learning and preparation of qualified Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists. The program mission allows our future RCIS professionals to provide quality health care services to the community, thereby enabling the students to achieve their expectations and attain their full professional potential.  



Goals

Cognitive (knowledge)

  • ability to read, write, communicate, and understand the English language, both verbally and nonverbally, with patients, family members, healthcare personnel, and faculty

  • ability to explain the procedure to the patient, obtain medical history from the patient or other healthcare personnel

  • demonstrate attention to detail


Psychomotor (skills)

  • ability to demonstrate hand-eye coordination for manipulation of equipment using fine and gross motor skills

  • possess the ability to carry equipment and supplies which includes carrying, bending, kneeling, twisting, stooping, crouching, pushing, pulling, and reaching, including overhead

  • perform hand and upper extremity fine motor skills to include repetitive motions and sustained positions for extended periods of time

  • ability to hear, feel, and see


Affective (Behavior)

  • act ethically in the classroom and clinical settings at all times

  • adapt to an ever changing environment

  • monitor one's emotional state appropriately

  • accept responsibility for own actions, errors, or imperfections
