Medicine Residency

I want to formally welcome and sincerely thank you for taking the time to explore all that our residency program offers. Our goal is to help you develop into professional, competent, and compassionate physicians who are well-prepared for your advanced training programs. 

We offer 18 transitional year positions, where residents complete one clinical base year of training prior to entering advanced specialty residency programs. Graduates from our program move on to train in a diverse range of specialties, including Anesthesiology, Radiology, Dermatology, Radiation Oncology, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R). 

Our program is closely integrated with the Internal Medicine residency program so I encourage you to visit the IM residency website as well, since a significant portion of your time will be spent collaborating with your IM colleagues. More details regarding their program can be found here. 

Having trained at Ascension St. Vincent myself as an Internal Medicine resident, and serving as a core inpatient teaching faculty member since 2016, I can confidently say that this institution and its people are dedicated to providing you with a unique and personalized experience that will shape your future practice and best prepare you to serve your patients. Healthcare faces many challenges ahead, and I am committed to providing a residency experience rich in education and camaraderie to support you every step of the way. 

Our program also offers several unique opportunities, including the chance for members of the class to begin and end their intern year early (June 1-May 31), simulation experiences in a state-of-the-art simulation center, ultrasound and clinical educator curricula, and a global health elective.
