PGY-5

NICOLE CHICOINE, DO

Nicole was born and raised in Northern California. While a proud west coaster and Sharks/Warriors fan, she made her way to the East Coast for her undergraduate degree and studied Neuroscience. Afterwards the adventures continued, and she found her way to the Midwest for her medical studies, where she is very happy to stay and continue her training. Besides travel and adventure around the states and abroad, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Outside of the hospital she also enjoys swimming, hiking, watching crime documentaries, and finding the best breakfast spots in the city.

KIRSTEN CONCHA-MOORE, MD

Kirsten was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and split her life between Taos Pueblo, NM and Point Reyes Station, CA. She attended the University of California - Santa Cruz and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology. She attended the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson for her medical degree. She completed 3 years of integrated vascular surgery training at the University of Washington before making the decision to transition to general surgery. She is a member of the Association of American Indian Physicians and is passionate about health equity, particularly for underserved and rural communities. In her free time, Kirsten enjoys hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, yoga, and cooking.

MICHAEL NEWMAN, DO

Michael grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. He attended University of Michigan where he earned an undergraduate degree in Neuroscience. He spent time as a pharmacy technician and earned a paramedic license before moving to Indianapolis to attend medical school at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and dog, grilling, hiking, snowboarding, and watching college football/basketball.

DIEGO TAPIA, MD

Diego was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador, a beautiful city in the middle of the world surrounded by Mountains and Volcanos. He went to Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Ecuador School of Medicine. Diego enjoys playing the drums and guitar, hiking and playing videogames.

SEON WOO KIM, MD

Seon Woo was born and raised in South Korea. He went to Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar for his medical degree. During his free time, he enjoys watching movies, playing guitar, and biking. He is also an avid traveler and likes all kinds of spicy food.

VICTORIA NICKERSON, MD

Victoria was born and raised in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada, and attended the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland for her medical degree. During her free time, she likes to spend time outside hiking, snowshoeing, and ice skating. 

KATHERINE POWELL, DO

Katherine was born and raised in Indianapolis, IN.  She attended Purdue University where she got her undergraduate and graduate degrees in biomedical engineering.  She completed her medical education at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine.  During her free time, Katherine enjoys hanging out with her dogs, playing sports, lifting weights, reading, attending concerts, and completing DIY projects.

ARMANDO DEL VALLE, MD


Armando was born and raised in Miami, FL, and attended Florida State University where he completed undergraduate degrees in finance and real estate. He worked in his graduated fields prior to completing his medical school prerequisite coursework at Florida International University before attending Saint Louis University School of Medicine for his medical degree. During his free time, he enjoys spending time outside with his wife and two children. He also enjoys staying physically active with running and weight lifting, inline skating, and playing golf.

AYOMIDE GBADAMOSI, MD


Ayomide was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria before moving to the United Kingdom with his family in his early teens. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Pharmacy at the University College London. Then attended the University of Birmingham for his Medical degree. He is an avid Chelsea soccer fan and enjoys classic movies and weightlifting in his spare time.

AYHAM ODEH, MD

Ayham was born and raised in Amman, Jordan. He attended the University of Jordan for his medical degree, then finished a one-year medical internship at King Hussein Medical Center. Afterwards, he completed a research fellowship in the Thoracic and Cardiovascular department at Loyola University Chicago. Ayham enjoys listening and reading about music, playing football (soccer), lifting weights, swimming, cooking, and reading. He loves FC Barcelona and ice cream the most.

KATIE CLAXTON, DO

Katie was born and raised in Fort Wayne, IN and earned her undergraduate degree in Human Biology from Indiana University. She attended Kansas City University for medical school and was a member of their Global Health Honors Track, which allowed her to spend months in Kenya and Guatemala during her clinical rotations. Katie loves to travel, read, cook, and spend time with her friends and family, especially her nieces and nephew.

EMMA ELLIS, MD

Emma was born and raised in Seymour, Wisconsin. She attended the University of North Alabama for her undergraduate degree in biology and the Medical College of Wisconsin for her medical degree. In her free time, she enjoys seeing live music, participating in recreational sports leagues, and spending time with her fiancé, Derek, and their two kittens.

HTOO THU, MD

Htoo was born in Burma and moved to Indiana at age 13. She received her undergraduate degrees in Biology and Foreign Language Studies from Marian University and her medical degree from Indiana University. Her hobbies include dancing, fishing, watching k-dramas, volunteering in the community, and spending time with family.

Breea Liette, DO

Breea graduated from Marian University with a degree is Spanish. Originally from Jay County, Indiana, she has worked throughout her education as a scribe, surgical assistant, and teaching assistant in Cellular Biology. Breea continues a long Ascension St Vincent Surgery tradition of recruiting the very best overall student that Marian has to offer. She enjoys running and piano.

Daniyal Shahid, MD

Daniyal grew up in Pakistan and went to medical school in Islamabad, the capital. Outside of surgery, he loves to travel, hang out with family, stay connected to his heritage, and help out in the community. He is really looking forward to this new chapter, becoming a better surgeon, and enjoying the ride!

Sebastien Strachan, MD

Sebastien was born and raised in the Dominican Republic. He obtained his medical degree from Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) and completed a two-year research fellowship in the Cardiac Surgery Department at the Yale Aortic Institute. He is fluent in Spanish and French. His interests outside of medicine include playing soccer and pickleball, as well as spending time with friends and family.
