Minimum Academic Requirements

To be considered for acceptance in the Sonography Program, the applicants must meet all the following academic requirements:
ā- Minimum 2.50 college GPA (4.00 scale) on all academic work from all institutions.
- Completion of at least 15 credit hours of general education coursework in the required concentrations.
- Complete at least 3 credit hours in Algebra, Statistics or higher mathematics course by June 1* of the enrollment year.
- Complete at least 3 credit hours in general college-level physics and/or radiographic physics courses by June 1* of the enrollment year.
- Complete at least 3 credit hours in Communication Skills (The communication skills requisite may be met by a variety of courses including English, speech, or composition) June 1* of the enrollment year.
- Complete at least 5 credit hours in Human Anatomy and Physiology courses by June 1* of the enrollment year.
- Complete at least 1 credit hour in Medical Terminology courses by June 1* of the enrollment year.
- Any course not listed above must be approved by the Sonography Program faculty before credit can be awarded. Candidates seeking course approval must contact Ashlie Munchel for specifics.
- The required general education coursework must be 100-level or higher courses.
- All required general education courses must be completed with a letter grade of āCā or higher. In cases where a letter grade is not assigned, the program will only accept any course graded as "P", "S", or other such institutional designation as evidence the course was successfully completed as passing.
- Required general education courses must be from institutions accredited by either Accrediting Bureau for Health Education Schools (ABHES) or by regional accrediting agencies. The 7 regional accrediting agencies are as follows.
- Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC)
- Higher Learning Commission (HLC)
- Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)
- New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE)
- Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU)
- Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)
- WASC Senior College and University Commission (WASC)
