Pharmacy Residency Activities at Ascension Via Christi
The PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency at Ascension Via Christi in Wichita provides a broad range of experiences to assist in developing clinical skills and confidence.
Residency Project
The resident is required to initiate and complete a clinical research or practice-related project during the year. The project should be of such quality that the results may be submitted for presentation at a professional meeting and/or publication in a pharmacy or medical journal.
Service and Professional Development
After the orientation period, the resident will provide staffing to for JayDoc on a monthly basis.
Citywide resident journal club
Recent articles of interest are circulated and discussed. Residents present at journal club several times throughout the year.
Teaching opportunities
Resident will have the opportunity to assist in precepting pharmacy students in experiential learning, will participate in presentation of departmental didactic presentations for continuing education, and will regularly provide education to nurses, medical students and medical residents. Didactic and experiential teaching opportunities are available, including a teaching certificate program through the University of Kansas.
Committee involvement
Resident will take an active role on one local committee and one national committee throughout the year.
Protocol Development
Resident will work on developing a new or revised protocol each year
Travel
Residents may attend one clinical meeting per year in addition to a regional residency conference.
