Wellness

Our program recognizes the importance of the emotional and mental well-being of our residents. To reduce physician burnout, we have established a culture that supports personal health and wellness.

  1. GME Wellness committee - A collaborative resident and faculty committee that determines ways to best support residents during their training.  GME dispenses funds that each program can use in ways that they choose.  In the past, Pediatrics has used our funds for retreats activities, massages during Resident Appreciation Week, dinners with leadership, and things to make the lounge a more homey environment.
  2. Appointment half days - time that residents can take to handle their tasks of daily living or just decompress
  3. Resident Appreciation Week - a week set aside in February for fun activities, raffles, team-building events, and lots of food!
  4. Self-care Debriefing Sessions – Also known as death and sandwiches, these emotional debriefing sessions are designed to help residents cope with death and emotionally challenging cases. Residents confidentially share experiences, express emotions, and support each other to facilitate the coping process and encourage overall wellness.
  5. Spring & Fall Retreats - Designated residents-only retreats focused on team building, community outreach, and camaraderie outside the hospital.
  6. Hospital Employee Assistance Program (EAP) – This program offers a wealth of information, support, and online resources at no cost. Caring and empathetic counselors are available to residents and their families.
  7. Fitness Center – Residents have 24-hour access to the hospital fitness center.
  8. Seton Cove Spirituality Center –Offers people of all faiths the opportunity to nourish and foster their journey towards wholeness. Seton Cove is a place apart, a refuge to deepen one’s spiritual practice.
