Areas of specialties include but are not limited to mens and womens health, endocrinology with a special focus on diabetes mellitus and weight loss, cardiology with special focus in congestive heart failure, pediatrics, infectious diseases, transplant and special populations including geriatric population with additional training in medication therapy management.

Joseph W. Glovacz Jr., PharmD, BCACP
PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency
Program Director
Joseph earned his Bachelor's in Chemistry from the University of South Alabama in 2007 and Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2011 from Samford University's McWhorter School of Pharmacy. He subsequently completed a 1-year ambulatory care focused, pharmacy practice residency at the Veterans Administration (VA) Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System Joint Ambulatory Care Center (JACC). Joseph co-founded the Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacy program at Ascension Sacred Heart in 2017. Prior to joining Sacred Heart, he worked full time at the VA Gulf Coast JACC embedded within primary care and serving as a physician extender autonomously managing multiple chronic disease states including diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, anticoagulation, and chronic pain. Joseph is a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP) whose practice philosophy is that while medications are often necessary, the primary treatment of any chronic disease begins with diet and lifestyle.

Eric Parod, PharmD, BCACP
PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency
Program Preceptor
Eric earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from Mercer University. He subsequently completed his PGY1/PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency with Virginia Commonwealth University. Eric has managed patients via collaborative practice agreements in a variety of interprofessional care settings including family medicine, cardiology, nephrology, and endocrinology. He is a strong advocate of providing evidence-based and patient-centered care to promote optimal health outcomes. His work has been published in the Journal of Clinical Lipidology (JCL), Journal of the American Heart Association (JAHA), and the Journal of Clinical Hypertension (JCH). Eric remains actively involved in a wide range of professional organizations and has presented at many national conferences including the American College of Cardiology, American College of Clinical Pharmacy, and American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Outside of the office, Eric enjoys the beach and spending time with his wife and young daughter.
