Areas of specialties include but are not limited to mens and womens health, endocrinology with a special focus on diabetes mellitus and weight loss, cardiology with special focus in congestive heart failure, pediatrics, infectious diseases, transplant and special populations including geriatric population with additional training in medication therapy management.

PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency
Program Director
Joseph earned his Bachelor's in Chemistry from the University of South Alabama in 2007 and Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2011 from Samford University's McWhorter School of Pharmacy. He subsequently completed a 1-year ambulatory care focused, pharmacy practice residency at the Veterans Administration (VA) Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System Joint Ambulatory Care Center (JACC). Joseph co-founded the Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacy program at Ascension Sacred Heart in 2017. Prior to joining Sacred Heart, he worked full time at the VA Gulf Coast JACC embedded within primary care and serving as a physician extender autonomously managing multiple chronic disease states including diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, anticoagulation, and chronic pain. Joseph is a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP) whose practice philosophy is that while medications are often necessary, the primary treatment of any chronic disease begins with diet and lifestyle.

Madison Gilbert, PharmD
PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency
Program Preceptor
Madison graduated from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy with her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree and a Bachelors in Pharmaceutical Sciences. She subsequently completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency at Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola, FL. Madison's special interests lie in cardiology, diabetes and obesity medicine, along with overall disease prevention through diet and lifestyle and she is a strong advocate on providing evidence-based and patient-centered care to promote optimal health outcomes. Since completing her PGY2 Residency Madison is actively working towards her board certification in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy and her Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist credential. Outside of her pharmacy career, Madison loves cooking and exploring the local restaurants with her husband, spending time with her friends and family, and going to the Palafox Market and dog beach with their greyhounds Kida and Milo.

Amanda Sweat, PharmD
Amanda is a graduate of the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy. She is originally from Palm City, FL and completed a bachelor's degree in Family and Child Sciences at Florida State University and her pre-pharmacy requirements at Georgia Southern University in Savannah, GA. She then completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at USA Health University Hospital in Mobile, AL. Within her PGY2 Residency, Amanda is also a member of the Ambulatory Care Expert Review Panel (ERP) and Antimicrobial Stewardship Committees. Upon the completion of her PGY2, Amanda plans to become board certified in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy and earn her Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist credential. Outside of her pharmacy career, Amanda loves traveling, trying new experiences and foods, playing golf and tennis with her husband, and snuggling with her two cats, Natterpuss and Ragnar.
