Program Highlights
The Ascension St. Vincent Surgical Technology Program is a full-time, 17 month program. Individuals interested in the program must submit an application to be considered for acceptance into the program. Once classes begin graduation occurs 17 months later in the following year. Since the program has limited student capacity, selection into the program is competitive. Not every applicant who applies to the program will be selected. To learn more about the selection process, see Applications Process.
The program's curriculum consists of both intensive classroom education and hands-on clinical training. Enrolled students are engaged in the classroom, lab and/or clinical, on-site four days per week. Please refer to the Weekly Schedule tab under Program Structure to each semesters schedule. All classroom education and clinical training is conducted within the Ascension St. Vincent system.
Graduating from our Surgical Technology program will make you eligible to sit for the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) exam, which is a national certifying examination. While Indiana does not require surgical technologists to be certified to practice, many healthcare institutions NBSTSA have certification as a prerequisite for employment. Earning this certification can enhance your professional credentials, increase your job prospects, and demonstrate your commitment to maintaining high standards in the field of surgical technology.
