Student Services

Email
All School of Radiologic Technology students are assigned an email address through the Ascension Information Systems department, utilizing Google apps. This  allows faculty and staff to communicate with students via email. Students should check their Google gmail twice daily for information from the School and Faculty. All official and unofficial School information will be disseminated to students through their School of Radiologic Technology Google account.

Library
The Ascension Healthcare Library system consists of a central library located at St. Joseph hospital. The library maintains a collection appropriate to the hospital’s core service lines. In addition, computer workstations provide internet access to an array of electronic books, full-text journals and databases. The library is staffed based on the needs of participants. During non-staffed hours, the Security office can be contacted for access to the library. 

Parking
All parking is free and monitored by security in assigned parking structures/lots. Parking on the streets is discouraged – park at your own risk. If you are leaving the hospital late in the evening please take advantage of the Security Escort Service. 

Student Meetings
The first Thursday of each month, all the students and faculty get together for updates from all the Ascension clinical sites along with review of interested cases that the students have participated in while in their clinical rotations.

Lockers
You will be provided a locker at each campus for your personal belongings. Please be sure to keep your locker locked at all times. Ascension is not responsible for the loss of any personal property. At times hospital representatives may find it necessary to inspect lockers. In most cases if your locker must be inspected, it will take place while you and your instructor are present. Only in extreme circumstances will a locker be opened in the absence of the student.

myLearning
The myLearning is Ascension Healthcare’s Learning Management System (LMS) that provides services such as online education and reporting. The myLearning can be accessed through the Ascension Intranet using a computer at any worksite. Each student is assigned a number to access the myLearning link to complete modules as they are assigned.

Clover Learning, Inc.

Is an online education tool for students. Their online learning resources support radiography through a catalog of unique and engaging video lessons, quizzes and assessments, interactive learning tools, and certification exam prep application. 

Academic Assistance
Didactic instructors are available by appointment to provide additional assistance to students experiencing difficulty with academic coursework.

Accommodations
Students may be granted testing accommodations including additional time and/or a distraction free environment for test taking.

Guidance
Guidance is available to all students enrolled in the program. The faculty will assist the student with academic and clinical concerns. The faculty will direct the student for counseling or referral in cases of personal problems that may interfere with the program.

WSRT Membership

 Students will be reimbursed by the program if they become WSRT members. Students are encouraged to attend educational functions.  Compensatory time-off is awarded for meetings attended.

ASRT Membership

 The Ascension Foundation pays for all students to be ASRT members. 

WSRT/WAERT Educational Symposium

The Ascension St. Joseph’s Foundation provides the students’ registration fee and hotel accommodations. 

National Honor Society
The name of this organization is the Wisconsin Pi Chapter of Lambda Nu, the national honor society for the radiologic and imaging sciences. This Chapter is established at Ascension St. Joseph, School of Radiologic Technology. The purpose of this Chapter is to foster academic scholarship at the highest academic levels, promote research and investigation in the radiologic and imaging sciences, plus recognize exemplary scholarship. Associate Health & Wellness
Generally, the Associate Health & Wellness offices are open Monday through Friday on the first shift. The shift start and end times vary according to departmental need. One day each week the Associate Health & Wellness office at most sites is open until 6:30 p.m. There is at least one experienced occupational health registered nurse on staff full-time at each of the regional offices. When the Associate Health & Wellness office is closed, student health needs are met in the closest Ascension Urgent Care, Convenience Care, or Emergency Department.
