Lisa Dixson, Director Development and Outreach | EMS, ED
Lisa is a highly experienced nursing and EMS professional who brings a wealth of hands-on expertise in emergency care. With a background as a Flight Nurse, ICU Nurse, and Trauma ICU Nurse, she has provided exceptional care in fast-paced, high-stakes environments ranging from trauma centers to air medical services. Her deep clinical knowledge is matched by a strong commitment to improving operations and strengthening systems of care in emergency settings.
In addition to her clinical work, Lisa has been a driving force in the development of training programs and clinical protocols that elevate the quality of patient care and enhance the effectiveness of EMS services. She played a key role in pioneering community paramedicine education and in creating nationally recognized handoff protocols that improve communication and ensure continuity of care.
With a focus on mentorship and community engagement, Lisa is passionate about empowering others and leading initiatives that improve both patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Whether through innovative projects or strategic program development, she continues to make a meaningful impact in both nursing and EMS—shaping the future of emergency care.

Shannon Morphis, EMS Relationship Manager
Shannon is an accomplished and dedicated professional with over 20 years of experience in emergency medical services (EMS) and public health education. With a robust background in program management, crisis response, and EMS training, she is widely recognized for her leadership and ability to drive clinical improvements while building strong, collaborative relationships across the healthcare and EMS communities.
In her current role as EMS Relationship Manager for Ascension Saint Thomas, Shannon leads the development and coordination of EMS education initiatives and Community Paramedicine courses. She plays a pivotal role in strengthening partnerships between regional EMS agencies and hospital emergency departments. Her previous experience includes serving as EMS Education Manager and Quality & Safety Advisor for a regional air medical and critical care transport service, where she oversaw training, compliance, and operational standards for transport crews, first responders, and communications teams.
Shannon’s teaching credentials span a wide range of advanced certifications, including Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Critical Care Paramedic instruction. She currently serves as President of the Tennessee EMS Education Association, where she also chairs the annual statewide EMS education conference. Her commitment to advancing emergency medical care is further demonstrated by her gubernatorial appointment to the State of Tennessee EMS Board and active participation in numerous advisory committees.
With a passion for education, a commitment to patient safety, and a talent for strategic leadership, Shannon continues to be a driving force in the advancement of EMS training, clinical excellence, and system-wide improvement across the region.

Josh Cross, EMS Relationship Manager
Josh joined Ascension Saint Thomas in June 2024, bringing more than 22 years of experience in emergency medical services (EMS) to the team. A Nationally Registered Paramedic and licensed Critical Care Paramedic, he also holds an Associate's Degree in EMS and serves as a Paramedic Instructor Coordinator. His extensive background spans direct patient care, EMS education, and leadership roles within the prehospital setting.
Throughout his career, Josh has been dedicated to advancing EMS standards, improving patient outcomes, and fostering strong collaborations between EMS agencies and healthcare systems. His expertise includes leading critical care education initiatives, developing prehospital protocols, and providing advanced training in areas such as ventilator management, 12-lead ECG interpretation, and airway management.
In his role as EMS Relationship Manager, Josh focuses on strengthening partnerships with EMS agencies, supporting education and outreach efforts, and ensuring seamless integration between prehospital and hospital-based care. His commitment to education and operational excellence makes him a key resource for EMS providers throughout the region.
Outside of the field and classroom, Josh remains actively engaged with the EMS community, sharing best practices, mentoring future leaders, and staying at the forefront of innovations in prehospital care.
