Ascension St. John Medical Center

Established in 1926, St. John Medical Center is Ascension St. John Health System’s flagship hospital. Located in Tulsa, OK., the full-service tertiary hospital provides a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services and is nationally and regionally recognized. St. John Medical Center is an important referral center for many forms of advanced medical services for the entire northeastern Oklahoma region. The medical center is a 539-bed facility offering advanced services in trauma; neurology and neurosurgery (including stroke care); cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery; kidney transplant; adult and neonatal intensive care; joint replacement; and many other areas.  

St. John Medical Center is nationally recognized and has received various awards, including the following:

The transplant center at St. John Medical Center was the recipient of the only five-star program rating (highest possible) in Oklahoma by the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients, a national resource for organ transplantation analysis and data.

The Heyman Stroke Center at St. John Medical Center is the only Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center in eastern Oklahoma.  In addition, the Heyman Stroke Center has received the Gold Plus Quality Award and Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite recognition from the American Heart Association’s Get with the Guidelines®-Stroke program for six consecutive years.

The St. John Trauma Center is verified as a Level II Trauma Center by the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons, the only ACS-verified trauma program in northeastern Oklahoma. 

St. John Medical Center continues to be Oklahoma’s first and only certified member of MD Anderson Cancer Network®, a program of MD Anderson Cancer Center.  The Oklahoma Cancer Specialist and Research Institute is a joint venture included in the collaboration.

The mission of the St. John Medical Center Department of Pharmacy is to approach each patient with undivided attention to safety, quality, and access to superior patient care through optimizing medication use.  The pharmacy provides a critically important component to the delivery of patient care.  Our department promotes a team atmosphere based on a strong work ethic, values, and respect.  Our ultimate goal is to provide medication services while keeping a focus on the St. John Medical Center's mission of continuing the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.
