Sports Medicine Fellowship

About us

The Ascension Resurrection Sports Medicine Fellowship has been training physicians in the team approach to sports medicine since 2005. We are an accredited primary care sports medicine fellowship sponsored by the family medicine residency program at Ascension Resurrection, a 337-bed university-affiliated community hospital. The fellowship has access to all of the academic offerings of our numerous institutions.

Why choose us?

The finest education in an exciting field

As a specialty, sports medicine is still young. The development of many fine programs over the last few decades has helped to set the groundwork for what a fellowship program should look like. Our program has taken the strengths of these programs and combined them to provide our fellows with the finest in educational experiences.

Personalized to your interests

We take each fellow's own interests and skills into account to allow for a year aimed at satisfying personal growth while still providing the requisite core knowledge and exposures. Fellows are provided with the necessary tools to successfully practice sports medicine upon graduation from the program.

Access to Chicago sporting events

Fellows are given ample autonomy in their training room experiences at the college and high school levels, in addition to coverage of many large-scale sporting events within Chicago.

Ample educational opportunities

Opportunities for teaching residents and medical students abound both in the clinics and informal settings. They are also regarded as educators of the community and provide a variety of workshops and lectures to coaches, parents and patients alike. Significant involvement with numerous sports medicine experts within the Chicagoland area further enhances the Fellows' training.

Ongoing outreach programs

Fellows are expected to give back to the community through ongoing outreach programs that the fellowship participates in throughout the year. Fellows also receive ongoing instruction in sports medicine research and are required to complete and submit a clinically relevant project for presentation and/or publication during their year.
