Curriculum

During their four-year training, residents at the Ascension Saint Alexius Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency rotate through several affiliated medical centers and training sites:

The program also has affiliations with two federally qualified health centers to provide a comprehensive outpatient continuity clinical experience.

Conferences

There are more than 60 conferences held each month. These include: Morning Report, Journal Club, Medical Grand Rounds, Professional Lectures Series and subspecialty conferences.

Formal resident educational curriculum is held every Friday during the Protected Educational Time (PET). PET includes morbidity and mortality statistics review, reproductive endocrinology, maternal fetal medicine, surgical core curriculum, primary gynecology, gynecology/oncology, female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery and obstetrics.

In addition, all residents are encouraged to attend a postgraduate course each year.

Schedule of competency-based protected educational time

Alternating Fridays at 1–5 pm (held at two primary hospitals — Ascension Saint Alexius and Ascension Resurrection). MIGS sessions are held at Ascension Saint Alexius.
