How to Apply

Finding a residency program that fits your educational goals, your geographic needs and your lifestyle is crucial to your success in residency and for many years to come. Application and interview season can be a busy and often exhausting time. Our goal is to make your experience both fun and informative. The Ascension Saint Joseph - Chicago Family Medicine Residency Program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). We accept applications through the Electronic Application Service (ERAS). Please visit the website for detailed application criteria.

Interviews

The Ascension Saint Joseph - Chicago Family Medicine Residency is dedicated to assuring that all qualified applicants can equitably interview with us. The current evidence points to virtual interviews as the tool to increase access for all applicants, as it does not cause the applicant to incur a financial burden. Based on this, we will be doing 100% virtual interviews for our 2022–2023 application season. These interviews will be supplemented with:

  • Monthly virtual meet-and-greets with residents and faculty (October 2022–January 2023)
  • "Taste of Chicago" in-person event for applicants interested in face-to-face interaction with team (February)
  • Three (3) in-person open houses with tours of our hospital and clinic (Friday mornings, February)

Our ERAS Rank Order List will be based solely upon the ERAS file and the virtual interview day. An applicant will NOT be moved into a higher position on the rank list based on attending any of the additional virtual or in-person events.
