Ascension-Genesys Hospital, Grand Blanc, MI, is pleased to offer 3 graduate psychology practicum position(s) for up to 12 months (September –August ). Two positions are housed at the Family Health Center with the Family Medicine Residency Program (full patient age range) and 1 position is housed at the Downtown Family Health Center with the Internal Medicine and OB/GYN Residencies (typically 18yrs and older age range).
Students typically spend 2 full days on site at their assigned clinic. For those interested, an additional half-day can be spent seeing patients with our department’s hospital-based Consultation-Liaison (C-L) service. We primarily work with the underserved patient population across the age spectrum.
The practicum will provide a variety of supervised opportunities for students including our Integrated Primary Care (IPC) clinic, which provides brief individual treatment for a variety of mild-moderate behavioral, chronic pain, and mental health issues. The practicum also offers opportunities to participate in our Lifestyle Change Clinic, using psychological interventions help patients lose weight and quit smoking, as well as the ADHD screening clinic, and developing an outpatient psychotherapy caseload. Specific experiences will be based on assigned clinic, student availability, and interests. The practicum student will be provided weekly supervision by an attending psychology faculty member (fully licensed at the doctoral level), and when possible, additional supervision will be offered by one of our current postdoctoral fellows. The student will be provided with a computer and private office space. Students typically spend 8-12 months in the practicum based upon their schedule needs. The position is available for up to 12 months.
We are pleased to offer up to a $1500.00 total stipend (paid every two weeks at $57.69 up to a maximum of 26 weeks), a hospital cafeteria stipend, as well as free admission to our monthly CME medical conference series.
