Curriculum

Training experiences are rotated on a monthly basis, except for the Continuity Clinic schedule that is ongoing throughout the entire fellowship period. 

Types of Rotations: 

  • Inpatient Consults - Team model.
  • Echocardiography - Preceptor model with 1 or 2 Fellows assigned to a supervising faculty.
  • Cardiac Catheterization Lab - Preceptor model with 1 or 2 Fellows assigned to a supervising interventional cardiologist.
  • Non-Invasive Procedures (Treadmills/ECGs, MRI and CT Imaging) - Preceptor model with 1 or 2 Fellows assigned to a supervising cardiologist in the non-invasive procedural lab.
  • Longitudinal Outpatient Cardiology - Preceptor model, with fellows assigned to teaching faculty in the Continuity Clinic.
  • Nuclear Medicine - Preceptor model with Fellow assigned to the nuclear cardiology division, seeing un-triaged patients under the supervision of the cardiologist.
  • Electrophysiology - Preceptor model with 1 or 2 Fellows assigned to several electrophysiologists.
  • Heart Failure, Transplant and Cardiac Rehabilitation - To gain skill and experience in the management of CHF and transplant patients, 1 or 2 fellows are assigned to the faculty on the advanced heart failure team. 
  • Cardiovascular Disease Surgery/Pediatric Cardiology - It is essential for cardiology trainees to gain knowledge about available CV surgical procedures for various cardiac disorders. It is important that trainees understand the fundamental principles of pediatric cardiovascular diseases, diagnosis and management to enable informed decision-making and timely care in the context of pediatrics, and the adult patient with congenital heart disease. As such, fellows will rotate through these specialty sites.
