Dr. Johanne Dillon is board-certified in diagnostic radiology and pediatric radiology, in which she is also fellowship trained. She is a practicing pediatric radiologist at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital - Indianapolis, including the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital and Women’s Hospital. Her passion for pediatric radiology is such that she can’t imagine why anyone would not want to be a pediatric radiologist!

Prior to becoming the program director for the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital – Indianapolis, Dr. Dillon has held multiple positions in academic institutions, including chair of the committee on faculty affairs, Radiology clerkship director, division chief in Pediatric Radiology, and chair of the Diagnostic Radiology residency program evaluation committee. As an award-winning educator, one of Dr. Dillon’s awards is the educator of the year award, which was won in a field of 2000 faculty members, with Dr. Dillon being the only  radiologist who has ever won the award. She will tell you that while winning awards is enjoyable, her greatest professional satisfaction comes from teaching the next generation of radiologists and advancing evidence-based imaging in children.

Dr. Dillon is particularly excited about her position as program director for the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital – Indianapolis because it allows her to combine her organizational and academic talents and drive to help residents not only achieve their greatest potential but also enjoy the four-year process of their development as radiologists. She strives to produce academically sound, proficient and efficient radiologists who model professionalism, compassion, and empathy in their interactions with all. Dr. Dillon ensures that residents will have the skills necessary to allow them to balance their busy personal and professional lives.

Mahmoud Ali, MBBCh

Interventional Radiology Core Faculty

Dr. Mahmoud Yousef Ali, MD, is an interventional radiologist at Ascension St. Vincent in Indianapolis, Indiana. He delivers minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat a variety of benign and malignant diseases. Dr. Ali has specialized training in interventional oncology including liver/Bone/lung/Kidney cancer treatment (microwave/Radiofrequency ablations, Cryoablation, Bland, chemo-embolization, Radioembolization). He also specializes in liver/portal interventions including transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS), BRTO/CARTO, percutaneous and transjugular liver biopsies. He has special interest in management of peripheral arterial disease with angioplasty, stenting and thrombolysis, minimally invasive procedures for acute and chronic deep venous thrombosis/occlusion, and IVC filter placement and removal. 

Dr. Ali is the author or coauthor of more than 30 journal articles, publications and abstracts and presented in national and international conferences. He is a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology, Radiological Society of North America and Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE).

Michael Conley, MD

Kristine Hatcher, DO

Breast Radiology Core Faculty

Diagnostic Radiology Residency:  

Dr. Kristine Hatcher is a Board-Certified radiologist with experience in multifaceted breast imaging and diagnosis. She is a full-time breast imager covering multiple centers for Ascension in the Indianapolis region, with her primary site at the main Breast Center at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Following graduation from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine she had post graduate training in both general radiology and breast imaging. Dr. Hatcher now works exclusively in breast imaging to provide expert care for the patients she serves and expert service for the referring providers. Dr. Hatcher has experience in teaching at multiple levels including undergraduate life sciences and radiology for medical students.

Christopher Kauffman, MD

Abdominal Radiology Core Faculty

Dr. Christopher Kauffman grew up in Indianapolis, IN and completed his internship year at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital. Dr. Kauffman specializes in abdominal and cardiothoracic radiology and is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Radiology at the University of Utah. Dr. Kauffman enjoys training radiology residents as a complement to his busy career as a practicing radiologist. In his free time, Dr. Kauffman is an avid mountain biker and enjoys exploring the natural beauty of the mountain west with his family.

Sarah Khan, MD

Neuroradiology Core Faculty

Neuroradiology Fellowship: Columbia University Irving Medical Center, NY

Dr. Sarah Khan is a radiologist specializing in neuroradiology at Radiology Partners Indiana. She completed her residency training at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey, and then went on to complete her neuroradiology fellowship at New York Presbyterian-Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

Dr. Khan is experienced in all aspects of neuroimaging with a clinical focus on neuro-oncologic imaging. She has a strong interest in head and neck imaging, advanced imaging techniques, and participating in multidisciplinary conferences. She enjoys contributing to the growth and development of medical students and residents. She is a member of American Society of Neuroradiology, American Society of Spine Radiology, and Radiological Society of North America.

Brett Pieper, MD

Nuclear Radiology Core Faculty

Dr. Brett Pieper is a radiologist specializing in Nuclear Medicine. He is currently Chief of Nuclear Medicine at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN. His expertise is in general nuclear medicine, PET/CT, and theranostics. He enjoys collaborating with a variety of multidisciplinary teams to provide outstanding comprehensive patient care. He is driven by a commitment to both clinical excellence and research innovation and strives to contribute to the evolving field of Nuclear Medicine.

Andrew Rivard, MD

Cardiothoracic Radiology Core Faculty 

Medical School:  University of Minnesota, MN

Dr. Andrew Rivard graduated with honors from the University of Minnesota with a BA in cellular and integrative human physiology in 2000, this was followed by a MD also at UMN. Four years of cardiac surgical research culminated in a Master's degree also in human physiology. Dr. Rivard completed radiology residency at the top ranked University of Florida. In 2010,  Dr. Rivard established the first adult and pediatric cardiac imaging and fellowship program in the State of Mississippi at UMMC, serving a ~2M population. Dr. Rivard has written more than 40 peer-reviewed publications with a specific focus on cardiac transplantation, cardiac physiology, and imaging from bench research to large clinical multicenter trials.

Since joining the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi in 2015 as one of the pioneering group of 165 physicians who opened the first hospital of size and complexity in the Middle East, Dr. Rivard  developed a comprehensive cardiac imaging program designed for the optimal patient experience and diagnostic service excellence serving the UAE and Gulf regions, a "Patient's First" philosophy. The program grew 20% annually to a volume of >400 CMR and >2500 cardiac CT exams serving a catchment population of ~1M. The cardiac imaging practice includes imaging for structural, ischemic, and adult congenital heart disease, as well as advanced post processing, and 3D printing. In 2020, Dr. Rivard was appointed Clinical Professor of Radiology at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.

As a developing leader, Dr. Rivard has taken an active interest in business networking and is a long-time member of the American Heart Association, the North American Society for Cardiac Imaging, the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation and is board certified by the American College of Radiology, Society for Cardiac Computed Tomography, and the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance. Dr. Rivard is a former chapter president of the Mississippi Radiological Society and was responsible for modernizing the chapter organization, operations, and website.

Dr. Rivard is passionate about interdisciplinary research with the heart, specifically heart valves, heart transplantation, and takes a specific interest in donor heart preservation. Dr. Rivard enjoys making new connections and developing innovations in experimental surgery, medical devices, and cardiac imaging. Prior to radiology training in 2002, Dr. Rivard founded Hibernicor which has taken him on an R&D journey to develop a lightweight portable donor hypothermic heart preservation device.
