Clinical Practice
The residency program includes clinical experiences in three different practice settings. The residency begins with a 2 month rotation in acute care, followed by a 6 month rotation in inpatient rehabilitation, and concludes with a 4 month rotation in outpatient rehabilitation. This structure is intentional, mirroring a patient transitioning through the continuum of care during his or her rehabilitation journey. All clinical practice sites are located in Evansville, less than ten miles from each other.
Residents engage in approximately 36 hours of direct patient care each week with a focus on the evaluation, examination and treatment of individuals with neurologic diagnoses as outlined in the Neurologic Description of Residency Practice. Of these 36 hours, a minimum of four hours are formally mentored. During this time, residents will collaborate 1:1 with an expert clinician to facilitate professional growth, clinical decision-making and skill development.
