IM Residency: University of Florida, FL

Medical School: Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, PA

Undergraduate: University of Florida, FL

I was born in Kerela, India but lived most of my life in Zephyrhills, Florida (near Tampa). I finished my undergraduate studies at University of Florida (Go Gators) before attending medical school at LECOM-Bradenton. I went back to Gainesville, FL for IM residency and chief residency at Shands Hospital at University of Florida. I made my way to Houston, Texas for my cardiology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine.

I fell in love with Cardiac Electrophysiology during my cardiology fellowship and I am thrilled to have matched at Ascension St. Vincent's Hospital! From bread and butter EP cases to complex ablations, I am fortunate to be training at a program that does it all. The attendings are incredible to work with and go out of their way to teach.

Outside of work, my wife and I enjoy spending time with our family, traveling, golfing, biking the trails nearby, and practice my Christian faith.

First Year Fellows

Sapan Bhuta, MD

Cardiology: Ascension St. Vincent, Indianapolis

IM Residency: University of Toledo, OH

Medical School: University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, OH

Undergraduate: The Ohio State University, Fisher College of Business

I grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and went on to study finance at The Ohio State University, medicine at University of Cincinnati, completed internal medicine residency at University of Toledo, and after residency completed a research year focused on electrophysiology at The Ohio State University. When interviewing for fellowships, I was looking for a place that served as a tertiary care referral center for the most complex pathology in a wide catchment area, and had high volumes in all aspects of cardiology including imaging, interventional, structural, electrophysiology, advanced heart failure therapies, and transplant. This program has been incredible in terms of volume, mentorship, clinical training, and getting fellows involved in procedures/imaging. Additionally, we are fortunate to work with world renowned experts in all the subspecialties. Indianapolis has a nice midwestern vibe with friendly people, lots of outdoor activities, and great food. In my free time, I like to explore the Monon Trail and the food scene in Indy.
