Application Process

Cardiovascular Disease Application & Interview Process

Candidates who would like to be considered for one of three positions in the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship program (8 CVD fellows altogether) need to submit an application via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

Interviews are by invitation only and are generally offered to applicants with a combination of solid medical school performance, above average USMLE scores, and recent clinical experience in U.S. hospitals in which the student or physician had meaningful responsibility for patient management decisions. In addition, three letters of recommendation are preferred.

Applicants who are interested in applying should contact the MyERAS Web site. This is where you complete your application and personal statement, select programs to apply to, and assign documents to be received by those programs.

A complete application should include:

  • Complete an ERAS Common Application
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • USMLE Scores (Steps 1, 2, and 3 or equivalent)
  • Personal statement
  • At least 3 letters of recommendation
  • Medical School Transcript
  • ECFMG (if applicable)
  • Our institution sponsors J-1 Visas only

In-Person Interviews

A survey of trainees by the ACC revealed a majority favored in person interviews.  We concur and for years this was how they were done. It is very advantageous for the candidate to spend time seeing the facilities as well as interacting with current faculty and fellows.  We typically host a dinner the night before the interviews with the applicants and our current fellows so they can have a chance without any faculty around to get more details on the program.

Thus, we will have in person interviews this year.

There are three openings for AY 2026-27
Dates:
The deadline for accepting applications for 2026 is August 31, 2025. We accept applications only through the Electronic Residency Application Service, ERAS Post Office.

How to schedule an interview:
Interviews are scheduled by invitation only.

Interview Day Agenda:
The interview day is spent with the Program Director and key faculty, along with the current CVD fellows.
