PGY-3

 


Jordan Hawkins, DPM

Hometown:  Cicero, Indiana

Undergraduate:  Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana

Podiatry School: Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine, Miami Shores, Florida
Jordan worked as a Teaching Assistant at Barry University and a Medical Assistant at a Foot and Ankle Clinic.  Jordan has volunteered at the annual Broward County Diabetes walk conducting foot exams and awareness of podiatric care and she volunteered at Indiana University Health assisting patients at the front desk and in the NICU.  In a letter of recommendation,  Jordan's professor stated that “Ms. Hawkins is one of my best students. Always pushing herself to make the best of any academic, clinical, or surgical experience.” 

Jordan has special interests in wound care, limb salvage, and trauma. 
After completing her residency,  she would love to be in a multi-physician private practice or hospital setting providing care to rural areas.

Jordan enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog.  She also enjoys weight lifting, caring for her plant collection, reading, and listening to podcasts when not able to be outside enjoying the weather. 

Why I chose St. Vincent Evansville:   I chose Evansville because it is not only a high-volume program, but also a great environment with a supportive team.

 


Ryan Johnson, DPM

Hometown: The Woodlands Houston, Texas

Undergraduate:  Brigham Young University, Rexburg, Idaho

Podiatry School: Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine, Cleveland, Ohio

Ryan worked as a student ambassador, tutor and teaching assistant at both Kent State University and Brigham Young University, and he is an Eagle Scout.  He also completed a two-year Malay Speaking Mission teaching and serving the people of Singapore and Malaysia and is fluent in speaking, reading and writing Malay. In a letter of recommendation, Ryan's professor stated that “His empathy for patients sets him apart from his fellow students.  He clearly takes pride in his ability to properly identify a patient’s condition regardless of complexity and displays the willingness to understand the rationale behind the diagnosis.” 

Ryan has special interests in diabetic wound care, trauma, sports medicine, and orthopedics.

After completing his residency, he would enjoy working in a private practice or a multi-specialty clinic

Ryan is married and has four children. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, loves the outdoors, especially hiking and camping, home repair projects, playing tennis, and ultimate frisbee

Why I chose St. Vincent Evansville:   I chose this program because of the huge volume and diversity of surgical cases. The hands-on experience at this program is incredible, and the attendings, residents, and other staff are amazing to work with.

Sam Millar, DPM

Hometown:  Coarsegold, California

Undergraduate:  Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah

Podiatry School: Podiatry School:  Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine (AZCPM) at Midwestern University, Glendale, Arizona 

Sam’s leadership experiences include General Anatomy Tutor, AZCPM Student Ambassador, Residency Liaison and Treasurer of the American Academy of Podiatric Practice Management Club.  Sam’s volunteer experiences include serving as a teacher assistant in a Lower Extremity Anatomy lab, recruiting high school aged students into Midwestern University, and providing foot screenings for the homeless and underprivileged at the HOME Homeless Clinic.  In a letter of recommendation, Sam's professor stated that “Sam was one of the best students I’ve had the privilege to teach” and another stated that “Sam is one of the most clinically adept students with a solid foundation in the academic material”.  

Sam has special interests in orthopedics and sports medicine.  He wants his patients to know that he is dedicated to practicing up-to-date medicine and will work hard to give the best treatment. 

After completing his residency, he would enjoy working in a small practice or hospital.

Sam is married and has two children, a daughter and a son. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and his hobbies include hunting, fishing and running.   

Why I chose St. Vincent Evansville:   I chose this program because the attendings are very impressive and the variety of cases is appealing.  The cases include a great number of diabetic infections, trauma, and elective surgeries.


Collin L. Ray, DPM

Hometown:  Eagle, Idaho

Undergraduate:  Brigham Young University-Idaho, Rexburg, Idaho

Podiatry School: Podiatry School:  Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine at Midwestern University, Glendale, Arizona 

Collin has served as a leader during his education as a teacher assistant in a Lower Extremity Anatomy lab, as a youth group supervisor, and manager of a landscaping crew who designed and installed lawn sprinkler systems.  Collin’s volunteer experiences include foot screenings for Special Olympics athletes as well as for the homeless and underprivileged at Justa Center.  In a letter of recommendation, Collin’s professor stated that “Collin is one of the finest students I've had the honor of teaching”  and another stated that “Collin is a smart, dedicated, delightful, well rounded outstanding podiatric medical student”.  

Collin has special interests in orthopedics and wound care.  He wants his patients to know that he will integrate his medical knowledge and the patient's desired outcome to find the best result for the individual patient.  

After completing his residency, he plans to own a private practice.

Collin has a beautiful wife and daughter.  In his free time, he loves being active and spending time with his family and friends.  It is important to him to be part of an active community.  Collin also enjoys hunting, fishing and most sports.      

Why I chose St. Vincent Evansville:  I chose this program because I want to be able to deal with any foot and ankle issue that comes into my office. This program offers a wide variety of cases and has a high volume of cases. I was also impressed by the close relationship of the residents and the mentorship of the attendings.

Stevie Binder, DPM

Hometown:  South Bend, Indiana

Undergraduate:  Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana

Podiatry School: Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, North Chicago, Illinois

Stevie participated in several podiatric organizations during medical school and served as the Involvement and Outreach Coordinator for the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine.   She volunteered in the Podiatric medical tent during the Chicago Marathon and on the podiatry panel at the Interprofessional Community Clinic, a free health care clinic, in North Chicago. Stevie is excited to be part of a Residency program that provides the opportunity to explore sports medicine and orthopedics, to work with a diverse patient population, and to strengthen her surgical skills.  

 Stevie has special interests in trauma, sports medicine and orthopedics.

After completing her residency, Stevie would like to work at a hospital or in an orthopedic group. 

 Stevie and her fiancé were engaged last spring while traveling in Croatia.  In her free time, she enjoys watching TV/movies, sports and spending time with her fiancé. 

Why I chose St. Vincent Evansville:   I chose this program because of the quality of training and surgical volume and diversity. The attendings have a wealth of knowledge and truly want the residents to be successful.  

Aaron Gallardo, DPM

 Hometown:  Costa Mesa, California

 Undergraduate:  Brigham Young University-Idaho, Rexburg, Idaho

 Podiatry School: Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

 

Aaron served as President of the Forensics Club and served as a missionary in Argentina where he learned to speak Spanish fluently. In letters of recommendation, professors stated that “Aaron is a very competent, mature, hardworking student with a superior work ethic and a great personality” and that he “actively participated in patient care, was reliable and demonstrated great hands on skills and an exceptional bedside manner.”  Aaron is excited about working in a team-oriented environment, collaborating with colleagues who share his dedication to patient care, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of his patients. 

Aaron has special interests in surgery and sports medicine.  

After completing his residency, he plans to practice podiatric medicine in the Midwest.   

Aaron is married and has three children.  In his free time, he enjoys fishing and golfing.

Why I chose St. Vincent Evansville:  I chose this program because of the great reputation the program has of training competent and skilled surgeons.
