Ascension St. Vincent Evansville
PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program

About Us

As a member of Ascension, the Pharmacy Department at Ascension St. Vincent Evansville affords residents the opportunity to participate in direct patient care clinical activities throughout an integrated health system.

Our department staff is involved in all aspects of the patient care experience from procurement, preparation and distribution to physician-led patient rounding, care transitions and post-discharge follow-up. The pharmacy has a fully automated centralized dispensing area and USP-797 compliant dedicated clean room for sterile preparation. We are active throughout the health system collaborating closely with other disciplines to develop and implement new initiatives for a quality patient experience. Pharmacy actively participates in patient safety activities including assessment of adverse drug events, medication errors, and ISMP Best Practice recommendations. A comprehensive clinical program includes services such as daily interdisciplinary rounding, pharmacokinetic and renal dosing, antimicrobial stewardship, nutritional support, anticoagulation therapy management, formulary management, and care transitions in an outpatient clinic setting. Pharmacists precept for pharmacy students and provide education for medical and nursing staff.
