Our Mission:
The Ascension St. Vincent Indianapolis (Southern Region) Internal Medicine Residency seeks to train residents who will improve access to care for the region and develop skills to care for vulnerable populations in an environment that promotes scholarship and champions diversity, clinical excellence, and service to Evansville, IN and the surrounding rural communities. Our residents will be educated to lead care teams, improve quality of care, and spearhead organizational initiatives in a primary care model that is a clinical learning environment.
We have a sophisticated medical education program of excellence, which we invite you to explore. We look forward to welcoming our new Internal Medicine Residency class in July of 2025 while building and implementing an outstanding experience for training physicians to care for medically complex patients in urban and rural settings. Educational experiences designed specifically for interns and residents are held daily in the hospital and in the outpatient clinics.
We are proud of our ability to design innovative approaches to medical education and training. We believe that residency training is truly postgraduate education; the value of residents’ experiences during these important years must be judged primarily by their educational worth. We strive to provide humane medical education and to encourage your active participation in the training opportunities at Ascension St. Vincent Evansville. The content of your residency experience will ensure that the needs of every patient are best served and help each of you achieve the goal of becoming a highly competent, well-trained, and compassionate internist. We have created a graduate medical education infrastructure which promotes excellence and innovation in clinical care, rural medicine, and Quality and Safety.
Graduate medical education is a team sport. We seek to create a community of teachers and learners who celebrate each other’s successes and build on the successes of those who came before. Our leadership team has been working together for almost a decade educating, mentoring, and celebrating our trainees. We are pleased and excited to start a new enterprise that is fortunate to include the knowledge, skills, and experience of some of our best former trainees to pass on a culture of excellence and achievement.
