Open Heart Recovery Cardiovascular RN Residency Program

This program is designed for telemetry nurses who desire to work in the 8-bed Open Heart Recovery (OHR) Unit at St. Vincent’s Riverside helping patients recover after open heart surgery.  

The program occurs in two phases: 

• The first phase will be an intensive 10-week residency including weekly classes and time working with a preceptor on 2 East, the Progressive Care Unit, where OHR patients are transferred after removal from mechanical ventilation.
• The second phase of this residency will occur after working 6-24 months on 2 East and the resident is deemed ready for transfer to OHR. You will enter an 8-week residency program with additional classes and time working with a preceptor in OHR.
