The hospital has provided Evanston, north Chicago and the surrounding area with family-centered care for more than a century, and the residency program dates back more than 50 years.
Our general internists are a dedicated group of clinicians who offer real world experience along with strong academic credentials, and our core of subspecialists are accomplished leaders in their areas of subspecialty medicine. One of our nephrology faculties is nationally recognized expert in his field, and our cardiologists are on the leading edge of chest pain research and early intervention.
Ascension Saint Francis is the only accredited Chest Pain Center on Chicago's North Shore, a Joint Commission-accredited Primary Stroke Center and home to a state-of-the-art wound care center complete with two hyperbaric chambers.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, Ascension Saint Francis offers you a congenial, well-structured hospital in which your service responsibilities are kept to a minimum and your educational responsibilities are maximized. Support services including IV, catheter insertion, EKGs, transportation and venipuncture are available 24 hours a day. Ascension Saint Francis' medical library is committed to building resources that facilitate the workflow of our medical professionals. You’ll find accurate, timely and pertinent medical information in a variety of formats:
- Electronic texts are available through AccessMedicine, Access Surgery, Ovid Books, ClinicalKey, UpToDate and R2 Library covering a range of disciplines and medical specialties.
- Over 2,000 full-text journals can be accessed through the hospital Intranet (PresNet) with Medline-based databases provided by EBSCO Discovery System, UpToDate and
- Clinical Key for your literature search needs. Remote access is also available.
- Decision-making databases such as UpToDate or ClinicalKey are available to enhance your clinical practice.
- Remote Access is provided by OpenAthens, an internet gateway that allows users to register an account on-site, then authenticates their access to all the library resources anywhere outside the hospital.
- Document Delivery Service is available for any medical literature not immediately available in the library's collection.
